The walls are covered in decorations: framed copies of Gustave Doré’s engraved illustrations, pages from age-old books gone yellow and faded, dreamcatchers and charms hanging from golden hooks, and a skull mounted to a display shelf which could easily be mistaken for human if not for the horns protruding from the front. There’s also a glass display case against one wall which is full of an odd assortment of objects, one of which looks to be a candle holder shaped suspiciously like a hand.
“This might be a stupid question,” I begin, overcome by curiosity, confusion and, if I’m being honest, a bit of unease. “But what exactly is all this stuff?”
In response, Rebecca raises an eyebrow. “And you say you want to talk to Dr Cabot?” she replies doubtfully.
It’s not an answer, and I find that slightly irritating. But before I can ask her what she means by it, she turns on her heel, leaving the room with a final shake of her head.
As the daughter of a theologist and a medium, Rebecca Mathers has spent her entire life surrounded by tales of magic and demons. Now working as an assistant to the eccentric demonologist Dr Cabot, her days are spent cataloguing grimoires and shelving strange objects. But Rebecca knows she was meant to do more, and her greatest wish is to be able to utilise her extensive knowledge.
Her latest task is simple: go with Alexander Michaelis and retrieve a book his father borrowed years ago and never returned. However, the Michaelis family have much bigger problems than borrowed books, and soon Rebecca might find her wish fulfilled in the worst possible way…

James had never been one to wear his heart on his sleeve. He much preferred to keep it securely tucked inside his chest beneath the cashmere layers of his sweaters.
He never could quite manage to rest peacefully when there was something still weighing on his mind. Through experience he had found that it was often better to burn the midnight oil than to let it grow stagnant and still, and there was something about the Academy’s halls that seemed to suit that purpose so well. It was this midnight world which James loved perhaps more than any other. If there were ghosts in these halls, they were fond enough of him to let him pass.

Adrien’s eyes were the bright, vibrant green of polished emeralds, and were framed with long, dark blond eyelashes. There was a soft smile to his pink lips, which were parted ever so slightly, and a gentle rosy blush to his porcelain cheeks.
There was no Adonis, no David, no sculptures of ivory or gold that could ever hope to come close to matching Adrien’s beauty. It had an ethereal quality to it, as though he didn’t quite belong in this world at all, as though he were some divine, enchanting thing not meant for mortal eyes.

AGENT FRANKENSTEIN
is one of five Agents in the A.R.C. Initiative, the elite of the elite, a scientist at heart with little of the latter. As a man with higher status than the Mayor, Frankenstein sits as the amalgamation of the A.R.C. Initiative’s teachings.
Unwilling to mentor a protege and stuck with one regardless, Frankenstein creates the game on puppet strings that everyone willplay.

APPEARANCE - Choppy, uneven blond hair, patched-together skin in greens and purples, red stitches, and discolored ligaments. Round, silver glasses, one lens broken, and a tattered suit jacket - commonly switched out with an equally-tattered blue lab coat.
