Deborah Butterfield was born in 1949 in San Diego, California. Butterfield is best known for her sculptures of horses made from natural materials and found objects. She began creating these in the 1970s, and has since exhibited her artwork throughout the world. Butterfield’s work is in the collections ofthe Metropolitan Museum,the Brooklyn Museum,the Whitney Museumandseveral other institutions.
