Should I shorten my long arc, or keep it?

In my current WIP, it has five protagonists, so the first part has five arcs, one for each MC. The current one, the third arc, was interesting enough that it had more chapters than the previous arcs to cover the events the MC went through - I enjoyed writing about them.

I thought that even if the content is fun, it might not seem right for one arc to have too many chapters: on the other hand, I’m considering making the next arcs as long as the current arc, with more themes for the other two MCs to confront.

Nonetheless, do you think it’s better to shorten the longer arc, and release the original version as a separate story (like the Children of Hurin out of the Silmarillion)? Or is it better to keep the long arc as it is?
