New York City has long been a cultural hub – of America and of the world. When it comes to mutants it is no different. In a city of millions of diverse people, it is easy – or, at least, easier – for a feared and hated minority to have a chance at blending in. From all over the world mutants have flocked to the city, hoping for a chance at a normal life. With registration looming, though, that blending in is getting harder. Anti-mutant sentiment is reaching a fever pitch. While most mutants – and most humans – just want to keep their heads down and live a quiet life, there are those on both sides of the fight gearing up for what they see as an enormous threat to their way of life.

X-Men: rEvolution is a Marvel themed literate roleplaying server for players 18 and up, with exciting and character-driver storylines. We have a very welcoming environment with a majority of BIPOC, LGBTQ+ players. We prioritize open communication and player-run leadership, with all members having an equal say in the organization of our game. the marvel roleplay discord i play on has been engaged in a discussion of just how ridiculous Online Discourse in the x men universe would get and how it would affect various subcultures.
like in a universe where often brightly colored hair comes with a mutation, would people be more or less likely to dye their hair bright colors? would that be seen as ~edgier~ than it currently is irl since mutants are looked down on in society? or would it be something people do as an attempt to show their support? would there be callouts of appropriation for people who aren’t mutants who dye hair bright and what would THAT rabbit hole look like?
would furries be more or less of a thing in a world where some people do have mutations that give them animalistic features, and it causes them a Ton of discrimination in society? how would the mutant community and the furry community get along? COMPLICATEDLY, we suspect!
