Mulder never paid much attention to the ridiculously tiny space that is the basement’s supply closet, but he’s acutely aware of its size now that its shelves are digging into his back and the tip of Scully’s nose is grazing the skin above his belt buckle. He catches a hint of the smell of her shampoo from this morning’s shower, her crisp apple skirting through the heavy musk of old paper and cardboard.
