Yaaay, it’s finished-commission-o’-clock!

This piece was done by the awesome Ashley Masog, who illustrated one of my favorite lines from the second fic in my “Octogoblin - In Sickness and In Health” series, “Come Back To Me,” that explored Norman’s past as a DID system.

(She’s still available for commissions, too! Check out her info, below!)

It’s only a personal headcanon of mine, but I prefer to see the Goblin persona as an alter Norman and his other headmate at the time, Not Norman, formed to *protect* them, from abuse they were facing as kids.

When Tom’s Peter is beating the Goblin to a pulp in the climax of “No Way Home,” with the Goblin laughing the entire time, all I could see was a protector alter who’d become someone deeply unwell, who was thrilled at the idea that the “hero” Norman and Not Norman wished for might finally be about to bring all their suffering to an end.

And then… Peter *spared* him.

Having history with being a DID system myself, including one alter who started as a protector and ended up a persecutor as well, it was so unbelievably cathartic for me to see that Spider-Man decided Norman Osborn/the Goblin was someone worth saving, in the end, no matter what.

Thanks so much, Ashley, for taking the text in my head and turning it into something fantastic, that everyone can see! ❤
