Ring ding ding

The cheer squad for Sapporo’s professional baseball team, the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters, debuted a new inning break routine set to Ylvis’ The Fox (“What Does the Fox Say?”) this season. The song didn’t have much impact in Japan when it came out, so a lot of folks are now encountering it for the first time. The routine (きつねダンス, or “Fox Dance”) has gotten so popular that TV networks have started broadcasting it instead of going straight to commercials, and even national news programs have been covering it and the original song. It grows. It spreads. Jacha-chacha-chacha-chow.
