Daily Weather, 5.10.21

Today the moon enters Taurus, where it will join the Sun for a Full Moon the following day. With that in mind, these horoscopes will be a preparation for this lunation. Taking place in the final decan (or 10º) of Taurus, which is Saturn-ruled, we can expect a certain lack of control in the face of nature’s cycle. Symbolized by “Prayer Beads,” according to Austin Coppock, this image calls to mind putting faith in the actions of something more powerful than you, whether it be some divine power or the cycles of nature. A key word with this decan is “hubris,” pointing to the fatal flaw of Greek tragic figures who believe themselves above the laws of the gods. On a more mundane level, we engage with the feeling of this part of Taurus when we garden and fungus destroys our crops or some of our seeds die through no fault of our own. There has to be a point where we do all that we can and after that, must leave the results in the hand of something unnameable.
The New moon is taking place at 21º Taurus, which Kozminsky associates with this image: “Hand holding a torch amidst the darkness”. Connoting a beacon of hope in the midst of difficult circumstances, Kozminsky comments that “No matter how dark the way,”  the presence of this degree “inspires brightness”. He also says there is “no weakness” in this degree due to its ability to help us see and understand exactly what we need to do.
Put together, this lunation is one of powerful surrender. While there will always be contingencies we can’t control (and should practice accepting), we still have room to act. Rather than worrying about results, we should turn our attention to our deeper purpose and let than guide through all situations.
This New Moon can serve as a powerful reset for us to come back to our fundamentals: our bodies and all of their wisdom; the cycles of growth and withering; the steady rhythm of work and play. Where are you being gently guided? This New Moon forms a loose sextile to Neptune, making our dreams and moments of spaciness a boon in the process of allowing. A loose square to Jupiter also adds a dose of possibility when we take our leaps of faith; what we lose will be made up for.
