It’s this sketchbook I bought over a year ago here in Finland. The paper itself seems to be something called “520 Vogue Letter Paper” maybe? I quite like it because it’s this nice natural white colour. As you might see it isn’t really ideal for watercolour in any way, but it works well enough that I still use it for that sometimes.

(Warning, the beginning is a bit brutal…)

I remembered this little timelapse test I did almost a year ago and figured I could put it here. Obviously the placement of my phone isn’t ideal, but is this kind of thing something you guys would be interested in seeing more of every now and then? And if so, in what form? Quick freehand drawing like this or a longer thing with something being sketched out, inked and maybe even painted?

Note to self: avoid drawing detailed symmetrical horns in the future.

My charismatic dnd warlock Lambi (the name comes from a toilet paper with a lamb as their mascot)!

It’s quite interesting to play and see the character develop through every game session. Lambi just tries talking their way through every situation imaginable and has a tendency to make a total fool of themselves, regardless of whether the attempt was successful or not. Also, they’re trying to save money for a warship or a castle or something similarly cool, but can’t help spending heaps of it on sweets.

Lambi also ends up accepting and challenging people to all kinds of physical contests repeatedly, despite being a tiny, sickly person with a -1 modifier to strength.

The main fruit of last year’s (okay, the year changed, so it was technically two years ago, the end of 2016) printmaking course!

It’s a multicolour single plate woodblock print, meaning the whole picture is made with a single plate altered a little bit for each colour layer. So, first I carved out the snow flakes and some of the closest snow mounds, and then gradually carved out more and more and printed with darker and darker colours until the piece was finished. If I recall correctly there’s seven layers in total.

About the next generation, I WILL do it eventually, but I don’t have it planned right now, I’m in the final year of my studies, so most of my time goes to my graduation project and my internship, so a huge project like drawing the entire second generation of pokémon doesn’t really fit in there, sadly.

I do, however, already have the rest of the eeveelutions and starters sketched out, so I will probably finish those at some point in the near-ish future, but the full second generation won’t until the summer at the earliest. After my graduation.

I’m not sure about how many generations I will ultimately draw, I’m only super familiar with the first generation, I only recently started playing a generation V game for the first time! But, I’m fairly familiar with gen II and III though. Not making any promises, but I suspect I might draw that far at least. In due time.

Also, a poster is in the works (or there already is one, but I need to tweak it a little), and I might do the postcards as well, I shall look into it!


So yeah, a heads up. There won’t be more pokémon in a while, sadly, but there will be more of my original stuff instead, so if you like those or the style in general it’s hopefully worth to stick around!
