radanaecosoc:

Who cares about body hair?

V1:

Why’d we let greedy profiteers decide (10)
About our bodies and what goes inside? (10)
Or what should be on them to be pretty, (10)
So we’d look the same in ev’ry city? (10)
It is now the hour (5)
To take back power! (5)

Chorus:

You’re already beautiful in your skin (10)
Whether you’re dark, fair, fat or thin! (8)
Hair removal ads try to get you down, (10)
Don’t doubt yourself: ignore those clowns! (8)

V2:

Even if those shiny razors and wax strips
Claim to better your legs or upper lips
Don’t put those packaged liars on your shelf
Unless you’re doing it just for yourself!
It is now the hour
To take back power!

Chorus

V3:
There is not just one way to be human,
The truth about this will have ‘em fumin’!
P&G wants to make you think you need
Smooth, hairless, shaved skin; look beyond their greed!
It is now the hour,
To take back power!

Chorus

V4:
They’ll try to claim it’s for basic hygiene:
But that’s just a lie for all to be seen.
The obsession with prepubescence
Is creepy and patriarchal nonsense!
It is now the hour,
To take back power!

Chorus

V5:
Your body is your own and yours alone!
You are a person, not filling some zone.
Your body’s beautiful, hairy or not;
Don’t give Patriarchy a second thought!
It is now the hour,
To take back power!

Chorus

V6:
Then there is the whole damn issue with pain:
Pour hot wax, plucking again and again!
An expectation for some to endure:
For men’s approval?! To be seen as pure?!
It is now the hour,
To take back power!

Chorus

V7:
If it’s not your body, you get no say:
Not today, tomorrow or any day!
Keep your damn shame and judgment to yourself:
That junk, like razors, belongs on no shelf!
It is now the hour,
To take back power!

Chorus

radanaecosoc:

V1:
You’re probably tired of this word, (9)
For one year, it’s all that we have heard!(9)
But before Coronavirus came (9)
Was a disease whose spread was quite the same. (9)

Bridge:
The longest lived diseases on earth- (7)
And in this field is no dearth- (7)
Are nowhere near this one’s worth. (7)

Chorus:
It’s Capitalism! (6)
The Worst-of-all-ism! (6)
This disgusting pandemic (7)
Makes us incurably sick. (7)

V2:
This awful system has doomed us all-
Growing, while all ecosystems fall:
Money buffers some, but for how long?
Don’t wait for the Rich to see it’s wrong!

Chorus

V3:
A system based on hierarchy-
Just a glorified oligarchy-
That puts price tags on ev’ry Life form
Guards the int’rests of a few by storm.

Chorus

V4:
Slavery, conquests and racism,
Mass extinctions, theft and sexism,
Poverty, speciesism as well:
Capitalism maintains this hell.

Chorus

V5:
It is not some glitch nor divine fault
To see the homeless and starving; halt!
The wealth of the wealthy comes from them:
The poverty of the poor ’s the stem.

Chorus
V6:
Hard work brings wealth, some bootlickers say:
Why do some work twenty hours a day
Picking tea or fruits, while bosses lounge?
Jeff doesn’t work harder: he’s a sponge!

Chorus

V7:
Don’t let them fool you with their foul lies:
In this system, community dies;
Profits are stretched by stealing labour-
Exploitation is not to savour.

Chorus

V8:
There’s always another way to live:
Instead of just taking, we could give.
Kindness and cooperation cures:
Greed can’t wipe out compassion for sure.

Chorus

Outro/Rap:
More money, more oil, (5)
More misery and toil; (6)
We can’t drink money-
This system’s not funny!
Food and water: locked;
Ask why and they’ll be shocked,
We pretend it’s right
That kids should starve at night;
Not that all be fed;
Sell yourself, end up dead-
The only choices,
Repeated oft by voices-
Seem to buy this lie
Sell labour till you die:
Make your boss richer
Refill all their pitchers,
With all your labour;
Forsake your own neighbour.
Wealth is not a car:
Nor mansions, yachts, by far;
It’s not enmity-
It is community!
We are social apes
Together, order shapes!
We’re all different,
Our labour’s to be spent
On what we desire-
And all that we require
Ought to all be free
Not withheld for a fee.
Let’s bridge the chasm:
Fuck capitalism!

Caste away!

Intro:
We are sailing on a damned ship! (8)
Through a sea of hatred we slip… (8)

V1:
The captain on this vessel, (7)
Is bigoted and hateful; (7)
His age-old venom will nestle (8)
In minds taught to be grateful. (7)

Bridge:
What do we do now as the crew? (8)
Is there a role for me and you? (8)

Chorus:
Mutiny! Kick that captain out! (8)
Mutiny! Against prestige shout! (8)
We’ve let this run too many days- (8)
It’s time we kicked this Caste away! (8)

V2:
The best roles and best chances
Strengthened the upper classes,
Without even second glances,
They stepped all o’er the masses.

Chorus

V3:
They’ll talk foreign injustice-
The horrors in distant lands.
Yet will refuse to accept this:
There’s Dalit blood on our hands.

Chorus

V4:
Honour killing’s still a thing,
Cause someone dares fall in love-
And in their state love songs they sing-
To one from a caste above!

Chorus

V5:
If we turn our eyes away
To the distant horizon,
We fail Dalit comrades today,
Trumped by this system wizened.

Chorus

V6:
Leave Brahmin priv’lege behind-
Support Dalit platforms;
Let not more souls the system grind:
Yield not to Tradition’s storm!

Chorus

V7:
All crew members stand as one!
Birth and jobs do not make us-
We sail this ship but not for fun;
United, naught can break us!

Chorus

Outro:
Mutiny! Mutiny! (6)
Only then, are we all free! (7)
Mutiny! Mutiny! (6)
Only then will justice be! (7)

The butcher of Gujarat (7)
Brought us the awful “Beef ban”: (7)
What a devious man: (6)
Acting like a friend of cows (7)
Expanding dairy somehow: (7)
What a self-serving brat. (6)

Bridge:
The beef ban divides the folks (7)
Like twisted purity jokes (7)
Animals are comrades too, (7)
They’re not here for me and you. (7)

Ch:
Don’t buy his lies! (4)
Don’t buy his lies! (4)
Look! Look through his lies: (5)
Fascist in disguise! (5)

V2:
The butcher of Gujarat,
Added buffalo murders;
Gath'ring casteist herders
Waving the BJP flag.
Into fear, this path will drag.
What a divisive brat.

Chorus

V3:
The butcher of Gujarat
Tried to hide his dirty past;
Shedding now more blood fast.
The Massacre of Oh-Two
Should remind all of you:
What a violent brat!

 Chorus

V4:
The butcher of Gujarat,
Subsidises violence
What’s our response: silence?
Don’t let your tastebuds deceive-
That’s what his PR achieves!
What a deceptive brat!

Chorus
Look! Look through his deep lies: (6)
He’s a fascist to clear eyes. (7)

V1:

Borders, passports and visas, (7)
Stamps and immigration fees are (8)
Just instruments of blind hate (7)
That racism curates. (7)

V2:

We are born on this green earth
And assigned our lot right at birth
Lies we foolishly hold true.
Lies meant to rule and subdue.

Bridge:

We are not just what a paper dictates, (10)
A paper will not control all our fates. (10)

Chorus:
We are more than our passports (7)
We can always help and support! (8)
The flag is just a piece of cloth, (8)
It’s no token of sacred troth! (8)

V3:
Where were visas when Cook sailed?
When just treatment of natives failed?
Who permitted invasions
Of current wealthy nations?

Chorus

V4:
Families torn apart now:
All tacitly allowed somehow.
Refugees are turned away
Condemned to death - horrid days!

Chorus

V5:
Please remember who we are:
Comrades in spirit near and far!
We share more likeness than not
Alone, apart, we have naught.

Chorus

Just thought I’d have a go at writing out lyrics to some anti-capitalist, anti-supremacist, anti-nationalist and pro-community songs.

If you or anyone you know is keen on setting these to tunes, please feel free to use them! I’m looking for punk/folksy vibes but not particular!

This is just for the fun of collaboration because no idea can be truly traced to one individual owner. Share and collaborate and I will too!
