Day Twenty-Six: Reconciliation

“Why did you leave me?” 

The question hung in the air like a gravity well in space. 

“It seemed…logical, at the time.” 

“That’s not good enough.” Jim couldn’t believe, wouldn’tbelieve, that mere logic was the reason for shattering the best thing that had happened to him. 

“What would you have me say, Jim?” Spock’s voice was gentle; it was the most emotion he’d shown since returning to the ship. 

“I - don’t know, Spock. Maybe there isn’t anything you can say.” Jim wrung his hands together. He inhaled sharply when Spock’s hands covered his. 

“May I start with an apology?”

Day Twenty-Five: Revenge

His hands were shaking. But not from fear. 

From rage.

His fists clenched and his teeth gritted together. His breathing was fast and shallow - not from a desire to flee, but from a desire to harm - to maim, to kill, to have his revenge - Saru forced himself to take a deep, steadying breath. He didn’t recognize himself with this white hot aggression coursing through his veins. This was new and disturbing. Yet, Saru found he didn’t wholly dislike this side of himself - for he truly did want to make the Ba’ul pay for what they had done to his people.

Day Twenty-Four: Shared Laughter

“Banana, hot!”

The boys cracked up as a steaming hot banana materialized into existence, stinking up the place with the nauseating scent of microwaved banana mush. 

“Okay, my turn!” Nog slapped the banana off the replicator, which Jake caught and juggled for a moment before dropping it on the ground. As Jake was picking up the scalding fruit, Nog demanded, 

“Computer! Soup, no bowl!” A deluge of hot, chunky tomato soup splashed everywhere - covering Nog, Jake, the replicator, and the surrounding area. It looked like a murder scene. Both boys were stunned momentarily. Then they simultaneously burst into howling laughter.
