Sometimes I preplan the structure and composition of the clouds and when I start painting my mind goes on autopilot and something completely different comes out… that is what happened here. This is a painting of Flint Canyon Trail in La Cañada this one looks towards Glendale and Burbank Glendale is the brightest city to the left and burbank is at the top right. I have painted 3 of the 4 viewpoints, Which means I’m almost done with this series! Now what should I paint after that?..

I spent last week in LA and was able to take a few pictures from the Flint Canyon Trail in La Cañada at night. There are four major areas that I captured, this is a painting of the one that is looking towards the entrance of the San Fernando Valley. I’m planning on painting the other three views, Pasadena, Glendale + North Hollywood, and East LA. What other cities should I paint?

SOLD* this painting was developed from my experience spending about 3 weeks in the east coast this summer. I painted a city with the blue ridge mountains as the back drop. Sometimes you can’t tell from a time-lapse video that I paint every point of light (city lights and stars) purposefully. I do this mostly to balance the composition. This can be very time consuming, but I believe the end result is worth it! With this painting, I also tried to convey a sense of motion with the clouds. What do you all think?
