May 29th - Wave

Pearl Pangan had been a young woman who aspired to represent The Philippines at the Olympics as a freestyle competitive swimmer.   Her significant skill as a speed swimmer attracted the attention of the AlonTech Company who agreed to sponsor her training in exchange for her participating in the company’s science experiments.  Young, ambitious and a touch naive, Pearl agreed to this arrangement.  An accident occurred wherein Pearl was drenched in an experimental substances.  Fortunately she survived and soon thereafter discovered she had gained the ability to mentally control large portions of water.  This enables her to travel underwater at amazingly high speeds; as well as manifest weapons made from water and create powerful concentrated waves and waterspouts.

AlonTech’s unethical and illegal experiments were discovered by a branch of the Atlas Foundation who shut the company down.  Atlas’ chief of operations, Jimmy Woo, offered to help Pearl learn to control and utilize her newfound abilities of hydrokinesis.  Pearl agreed and ultimately became a member of Woo’s superhero team, The Agents of Atlas.

Having assumed the alias of ‘Wave,’ Pearl proved a crucial member of the team when the Agents took on the threat of Sindr and her fire giants during the War of the Realms event.  The heroine first appeared in the pages of War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas #1 (2019).
