The Jersey Devil
Do you have a favorite cryptid? As a native New Jerseyan, mine is definitely the 13th child of Old Mrs. Leeds, otherwise known as the Jersey Devil. I finally got to make it into a custom, including with a map of the Garden State as a tuft of hair on its chest.
Folklore Friday:
If your bare-bottom can sit on the ground, it’s warm enough to sow seeds
Folklore Friday:
Plant your vines (beans, cucumbers, etc.) when the horns of the moon are turned up, so that they may grow vigorously. If planted when the horns of the moon are turned down, they will remain low and stunted.
*Bonus:
The same is said for fences- if you want them to remain, build while the horns are up. Fences built while the horns of the moon are directed down are said to sink until the bottom rail touches the ground.
Folklore Friday:
Never take an old broom into a new house, as bad luck is sure to follow. It must be a new broom, and first carried across the meadow, to avert any ill from entering the home.
