The Iris: A giant sentient planet-sized organism that exists do take over and devour the solar system.
The Iris’s ‘moons’: Smaller planet-sized oranisms created from/by the Iris during its conquests. They seem to be nothing more than a byproduct of the Iris or at most funtion as extra methods of growth and spread.
Gardeners: Organisms that either live on or were created by the Iris whose only purpose is to create giant nests to rear more of itself. They are believed to be the fully formed mature version of a woodcrawler or a subtype of woodcrawler used to care for and breed the others.
Woodcrawlers: Creatures created from exposure natures Mockery (or organically by the gardeners) that funtion as drones. They exist to spread their influence by hijacking human (or animal) hosts and for clearing territory to build nests.
Natures Mockery: The end-stage form of a human-born woodcrawler that takes the shape of a jagged plant rooted deep into the ground. Upon exposure, these plants are able to spread their properties onto human hosts (causing “Deep root disease”) and thus creating more woodcrawlers. They could also be the beginning stage of organically grown (gardener created) woodcrawlers.
Fake people: These are humans that are undergoing the process of turning into a woodcrawler as a result of Deep Root Disease. These people are still funtionally woodcrawlers but still retain a human-like appearance (at least for a little while). These can also be created via direct contact with a woodcrawler infestation.
Skinwalkers: Similar to Fake People, these are Woodcrawlers what are able to take and maintain a human form and are (from what we can tell) highly sentient. These being also seem to be the ones communicating and working with Moonlight Acres and Ragnad computing (at least they are the proxys being used for the Iris to do so).
“The Bear”: This creature was at one point an actual bear that the staff of the Moonlight Acres camp chose to sacrifice in place of a human. This bear was then corrupted by (what can only be assumed is) Nature’s Mockery and was mutated into a vaguely Bear-looking abomination that had an endless desire to consume. This bear creature killed off the camp staff but 1 person and is the direct reason why the camp was shut down between the 40s and 80s.
I feel like a lot of the smaller Analog horror series (ones with a following of under 40k) do not generally get a lot of attention even if they are well produced. So in light of that I will be calling out a new series I recently learned of: Recollections of Brookerton Ridge, PA created by u/Casettescape_VX on reddit
So Recollections of Brookerton Ridge PA is kind of a analog Horror anthology series taking place in Bookerton Ridge PA (or at the bare minimum the subjects of the video are from the town). Each episode is about a new weird instance in the town’s history from the 40s-70s. It does gave a decent amount of body horror and gore so if that is not your thing it might not be for you, but it certainly is worth a watch if that is something you are into or ok with.
Another thing I would like to point out is that the art for this series is A+. It is one of the more higher quality Analog Horror series I have seen. Many newer series (post local 58 boom) are fairly lack luster when it comes to the quality of their shorts. Recollections of Brookerton Ridge though has some of the highest production value out of the newer series I have ever seen. All of the art and voice acting is really well done. And the delivery is superb.
The Bythorne Paranormal Society is an organization that funtions as this universes version of ghost hunters. But due to their fairly informal status (and the fact their activities seem to further the spread and influence of Alternates by virtue of seeking them out) they seem to be wanted by the law
The creator of Mandela Catalogue (Alex) frequently pops up within the series itself in the forms of photos and narrations. For example the picture for Mark is actually an image of Alex heavily edited, the photo of the 2 children in “Exhibition” is also Alex when he was younger, and Alex does the narration for the “METAPHYSICAL AWARENESS DISORDER” episode.
In the episode “Exhibition” of Mandela catalog, there is a secret message hidden in the segment where Noah is visited by alternate Gabriel or possibly even a different alternate all together. This secret message can be found roughly at 0:53 and it says “TYPE 2 ALTERNATE”.
Can i just say that i really really love the new “trend” of analog horror youtube channels?? I love those creators! Coming up with concepts like that and being able to transform them inside a video is so cool. How it’s obvious yet mysterious. It’s an honor to watch these videos and make up my theories or read/watch other’s theories. I have so much respect for these people creating somewhat a new horror genre.
