The concept here is: I love Abra, and I wanted to draw it having some kind of adventure. But Abra spends most of its time asleep. So I thought to draw Abra asleep in different places, while other things happen around it. Maybe it’s dreaming of everyone else’s adventures. :D I have like four more of these scenes planned out.

He ignored me, turning back, to where the Phonza really was biting the curve where the human’s neck met his shoulder, a bruise already starting to form. Her lower arms caressed his stomach, one upper hand curving around his chest and the other tangled in his hair, dragging his head back and exposing the golden-tan line of his throat. I went ahead and fixed the galactic translator myself; it synced to my Earth one moments later, just in time to hear the Phonza say “…wanton and needy, panting like a Duphrul in heat for the world to see?”
The human writhed and groaned, a soft stream of words, “yes, god, please, yes,”and the Phonza slipped one lower hand under the waistband of his sweatpants, the other cupping his ass possessively. The fingers of her upper hands laced with his, pinning them above his head, putting him on display, the expanse of his golden skin bared, his face flushed, arms straining, every inch pornographic.

Alex Yan is an avid reader who took the dearth of good consenting robot stories in theEratoslush pile as a challenge. This is their first explicit work, though hopefully not their last.
What inspired you to write this story?
It seems that when I actually finish a story, it almost certainly came from a rather silly concept. Tumblr user unpretty once said that ideas are overrated; the execution is the important part, which is how you can have delightful stories come from inadvisable concepts, while deep, high concepts can produce mediocre novels about Literature professors having affairs with their students. Another popular post talked about a literature class the writer took, where the students’ favorite stories they wrote were the lighthearted ones they were assigned at the end of the semester, where they stopped trying to prove anything to anyone and just enjoyed themselves.
I feel the same way about sex - it’s hard to enjoy it when you’re feeling pressure to perform, or worried about how you’re doing or what your partner(s) thinks of you or whether you’re living up to their expectations. Some of the half-finished or barely-started stories I wrote were about concepts that I wanted to do justice, to the point where I was freezing up, because was this reallygood enough, was it bad representation in any way, and anyway, who was I to try writing about this to begin with? "First Time" took away some of that pressure.
Which is not to say that I didn’t take it seriously. I’m not sure if this is a universal trait, but I feel like in general, humans take a lot of silly things seriously. And that’s fun. So was trying to determine the logistics of having safe sex with aliens with a variety of different parts and body chemistries. And trying to make a case that alien cultures wouldn’tequate penetration to domination, because why would they. And, of course, reading past New Smut Project works for definitely-serious-research purposes- but I digress.
When did you start writing about sex? What are some of the challenges and benefits you’ve discovered?
Arguably I started writing about sex while making several false starts for Erato, including multiple first paragraphs of transhumanist stories where trans people discovered how to pleasure their new mechanical bodies (I’m hoping to complete at least one of those in time for the next anthology). This story represents my first completed explicit piece.
The main challenge was… I’d browsed editor Alex Freeman’s blog some years ago, and the shy blushy feeling they described that you apparently get when writing about people having sex for the first time is Very Real.
The biggest benefit is that now I get to plug Cunning Linguists to all my queer friends and also ~casually~ mention that I am in it.
When did you first discover erotic writing?
Somewhere around eleven years ago, but I mostly hovered around the edges before finally diving in around January 2015. Fanfiction was where I discovered erotic writing, and I’m incredibly glad it exists. I’ve found both incredible works of erotic literature and extremely guilty pleasures on there, from a wide pool of diverse writers, all creating for sheer love, available for free.
What’s your favorite sex scene you’ve ever read?
My favorite sex scenes tend to be ones that challenge ideas around sex, or present a new dimension I hadn’t thought of before. I loved Evadare Volney’s “Synchron” fromErato,which integrates music and sex; and the sex scenes in Naomi Novik’s Uprooted, where different styles of magic merge in an unexpectedly sensual way. On a more basic level, Starlingthefool’s fanfic Any Eventuality provides some sorely needed representation of submissive tops.
What’s your favorite sexy word? Is there a word you really like that has an unfair bad reputation?
It depends on the context, but in general I’m a huge fan of terms like “her sex”, “his length”, or “xir shaft”; words that don’t necessarily interrupt if you’re trying to write something softer or more flowery than “dick” or “pussy” will allow.
What stories are you working on now? Do you have some upcoming releases readers should look out for?
I’m really hoping to finish “One (1) Act of Intercourse”, and at least one story on trans humans-turned-robots.

i got pharma/ambulon mixed up constantly so i spent the first half of mtmte like ‘?????? they let him back on the boat…?’
i thought ratchet and prowl were the same person until i kid you not like issue 40 of mtmte. i never questioned it even once. mtmte is one hell of a ride when you dont know what is going on let me tell you.

1) thought Rung was Perceptor bc I saw the panel of Rodimus holding Rung up as bait for the sparkeater out of context (bc he’s calling to Perceptor off-panel, so I just…thought he was talking TO Perceptor as he held him up for some reason). idk how long I went around thinking that, but I did. i distinctly remember being like “OH MY GOD THAT’S PERCEPTOR? HE’S SO TINY AND CUTE??”
2) kept mixing Drift and Rodimus up. seriously they LOOK the SAME
