Like a Daydream

Based on this request: “A Peter Parker oneshot where the reader can put people to sleep with her touch, but she’s got something against the Avengers. As per usual, Spider-Man isn’t really that involved himself with the Avengers, but still helps them out, so they’re enemies. Yet she and Peter are friends in their normal lives, not knowing each other’s secrets”

It is dead silent in the school library. Perfect, blissful silence, something that happens about once every century and quite possibly not even that often. For once, everybody is working, totally focused on whatever math homework or group project has befallen them. Around you, the hum of concentration scarcely dares to make a sound. It’s fantastic.

Or, it is fantastic until your phone jolts to life with an alarm. You grab it within the span of about half a second, immediately silencing it, but the damage is done. You swear you get a dozen angry glares, even though your phone was only on vibrate mode. Never mess with the impeccable study schedules of high school students when they’re a few hours from a deadline.

Your best friend arches a brow from where he sits across a very small table nicked by its fair share of overly aggressive pencil strokes.

“You do realize you’ve ruined all of us, right? No one here is going to be able to concentrate for the next day or two.”

You glare at him. Peter Parker may be one of your good friends, but it’s not as if he’s any better. Not even ten minutes ago, he nearly caused a riot by cracking his back so loudly that he attracted the stares of a study group three tables down.

“You’re the one who’s talking. Shut up.”

Peter just grins. “It’s too late to bully me, everyone else is already talking anyway. I hate to break it to you, Y/N, but you’ve destroyed the entire atmosphere.”

Peter isn’t entirely wrong. Already, people are daring to voice their comments again, and you have no doubt that the entire library will break back out into conversation in a matter of minutes.

You roll your eyes. “My apologies for messing with the vibe. Anyways, I have to go.”

Peter frowns. “So soon? I’ll miss you terribly.”

You smirk. “I bet you will, Parker. I hate to separate you from my presence, but I have no choice.”

Peter waves a hand dismissively. “I’ll mourn for hours. Are you still up for our study sesh later tonight? If you abandon me the night before our history final, I will actually lose my mind.”

You grin. “Never, I need that as much as you do. See you tonight.”

Peter waves goodbye as you gather up your things and go. You leave with a smile, and not just because you’ve been able to have another productive study session with your best friend.

No, this particular source of joy has everything to do with the alarm that just went off on your phone. You created that reminder to make sure you were ready to go when the time came. Namely, the time when all of the Avengers would travel out of their facility and thus be unprepared for an attack. You’ve been tracking security cameras and exit patterns as best you can, and you think you’ve been able to successfully map out the one time of day when New York’s resident heroes are least likely to be in Avengers Tower.

To put it simply, you’ve got a break-in planned, and you’ve organized it so it’ll coincide when no one is there. You’ve got a bone to pick with the Avengers. Technically, they only know you as Nightmare, an inhuman with the ability to put someone to sleep with the mere touch of a finger. Every good villain has a secret identity, and yours has been striking terror into the hearts of the Avengers for the past couple of months.

See, it all started about a year ago. Life isn’t wonderful as an inhuman, especially not since the Avengers started racketing up their enlistment process. Basically, if you’re even rumored to have gifts, you’re brought in for all sorts of questioning and tests, and if they find anything on you, you can kiss your normal life goodbye.

That’s what happened to a friend of yours, a girl named Alyna. She was able to bend light, and the two of you were happy practicing your abilities together until she messed up and used her powers in front of a security camera near northern Manhattan. Next thing you knew, she had ‘moved to a different school,’ and you never saw her again. You know the whole thing happened because of the Avengers, she was able to tell you that much before she vanished.

Now, you’re doing everything you can to find her. You’ve been raiding S.H.I.E.L.D. outposts for a while, trying to find anything on her, but the real target is the Avengers complex. You’ve been setting this up for a while, and finally, it’s time to strike. You pull on a change of clothes in a nearby alley, tug a hood up around your face, and start to walk briskly towards Avengers Tower. It’s time to do this before you lose your nerve. You have to find your friend.

You have no idea how well this is going to work, if it’s even going to work at all. Suddenly, it occurs to you that this is a terribly stupid plan. You’re one person, and S.H.I.E.L.D. is a mammoth organization composed of thousands of trained killers. There is no David and Goliath here, more like one David and about twenty or thirty Goliaths all junked up on super soldier serum and thus resistant to stones. The odds are not entirely in your favor, to say the least.

However, you’ve already arrived, and the sight of the crimson ‘A’ over the door fuels you to keep going. You’re not doing this for you, you’re doing this for Alyna. You have to keep going for her. It’s what she would do for you.

So, you duck your head as you enter the doors, and walk briskly towards an information desk located in the center of the room. You can see two double doors at the far side, locked and in need of a key card. They’ll probably lead to the rest of the complex.

A tired looking woman raises her eyebrow suspiciously when you walk in. “Can I help you?”

You notice a key card attached to her ID and smile. “Yes, actually, you can.”

You lean close enough to the woman that you can reach over and tap her wrist ever so gently. The security cameras shouldn’t see anything out of the ordinary, as you don’t seem to attack her, just stand there. The woman slumps back into her seat, and you grab her key card as she falls asleep. You let yourself in through the doors, and then it’s time for the next stage of the plan.

You’ve learned one crucial lesson over the past couple months spent breaking into smaller S.H.I.E.L.D. facilities: if you look like you belong, you won’t get caught. Walk with confidence, and you’re pretty much bulletproof. Even though you’re dressed in a hoodie obscuring most of your face whereas everyone else is dressed in impeccable uniforms, no one casts you a second glance. They just assume you’re coming back from an undercover mission and haven’t yet had the chance to change. The stolen ID card casually pinned to your chest doesn’t hurt either.

You don’t entirely know where you’re going, but after a few good loops of the hallways, you find a room off the main promenade that’s full of computers. It’s only guarded by a couple people so it should be fine, right?

You close and lock the door behind you, which causes the two agents to look up from their computers. One steps forward, a hand reaching for a gun.

“What are you doing here?”

You smile at them, sweeping close enough that you can lay a hand in their pulses, one by one, and knock them out with your gift. “Getting what I want.”

Thankfully, one of the agents was already logged in, so you start searching for files on the open computer. Anything is good, and the further you scroll, the more you realize that you have no idea what you’re doing. Everything is labeled with long strings of identification digits, or hidden behind password protection.

Eventually, you manage to find an entry level subfolder on S.H.I.E.L.D. recruitment policies regarding inhumans. It’s the best you’ve got right now, so it’ll do. You whip out a flash drive to start copying stuff over, and that is when everything goes wrong.

Apparently, S.H.I.E.L.D. knows enough about foiling break-ins to regularly check in on agents guarding their doors. Your receptionist must not have woken up in time to answer a call, or somebody passed by and realized that she was slumped over her desk instead of monitoring new arrivals. Regardless, you’re suddenly running on far less time than before, and people are going to start searching for you. You need to hurry this up.

Already, you can hear the sound of footsteps pounding down the halls. Someone tries the knob on your door, jiggles it a few times, then calls for backup. They’ve found you. Swearing under your breath, you silently beg the computer to hurry up. There’s only one door in this room, which is currently facing opposition from agents trying to get in, so you obviously can’t use that.

There is, however, a window on the far side, which looks to be just wide enough for you to get out. You reach in your backpack and pull out your uniform, the one you use whenever you have to go out on Official Inhuman Activity Time without a disguise like the one you’re wearing now. It features a mask, which is the main reason you want to have it on. A hoodie will only do you so much good when you’re running for your life, and you can’t afford to be found out.

The computer beeps at you as you’re zipping up the last couple inches of your uniform. You shove your clothes into your bag and race over to it. The door splinters to your left and you quickly change directions, tapping the oncoming guards on any exposed parts of skin so you can force them into unconsciousness. It won’t last long, especially since more and more agents are pouring down the hallway towards you, but it can at least buy you some time.

You run back to the computer and grab your flash drive before exiting out of the file locations. Turning your attention to the window, you examine it for latches and levers, anything to let you out. There’s a knob on the side and you twist it, causing the pane of glass to pull out towards you. A fire escape style railing winds treacherously down to the ground, but you doubt you’ll have enough time to jog down the remaining flights of stairs before they find you.

Looking behind you at the rapidly approaching squadrons of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, though, you’re not sure that you have much of a choice. You fling yourself out the window before you can talk yourself out of it, then close the glass panel behind you in an attempt to disguise your exit, not that it will make much difference.

Guards are starting to amass on the ground beneath you, so instead of running down the stairs, you run up, towards the roof. From there, you’re able to start running across the flat tops of the buildings, hoping to make it towards a nearby commercial district before you’re caught.

Someone lands on the roof beside you before you can get very far, though. Judging by the flash of electric blue in his eyes, and the hammer clasped firmly in his hands, you’ve made an enemy of a very powerful Norse god. This is exactly what you’d been hoping to avoid.

Thor frowns at you. “Stop right there, mortal. You have something of ours.”

You nod. “Okay. Can I hand it over now?”

Thor’s eyes narrow. “Really?”

You smile as disarmingly as you can. “Yeah, really. Giving it to you as we speak.”

You walk slowly towards Thor, flash drive held up so he can see it, but just before you drop it into his awaiting palm, you reach for his wrist instead. Putting Thor to sleep is far harder than your garden variety agent, and it takes almost all of your willpower to manage it, but when you blink hard after a sudden bout of intense dizziness, he’s suddenly sprawled on the ground in front of you.

You laugh, elated. You just put a god to sleep. You just put a god to sleep!

There’s a whir of helicopter blades overhead, and you start running again. It’s sometimes hard to remember being chased by a massive government organization when you’ve taken down the crown prince of Asgard. Everyone has their own priorities.

You reach the edge of a building, and come to a hasty stop. The next building isn’t as close as you thought, and the thought of messing up a jump and having your mission come to a hasty end isn’t all that appetizing, but you don’t have much of a choice.

At last, you get a running start, and take off before you can stop yourself. You only manage to careen through the air for about a couple feet, though, before someone collides with you. This someone, as it turns out, would be Spider-Man, at least judging by the red and blue suit and the rope of spiderweb he’s been using to swing into you.

You glare at him, frustrated. “You’re not supposed to be here, you know.”

You’re fairly sure that he’s grinning. “Funny, I could say the same thing about you. You know, the last time we fought, you swore that you never wanted to see me again.”

“I don’t,” you offer, but he doesn’t seem to believe you.

“Then why are you at the Avengers complex? Honestly, I appreciate the attention, but we’ve got to stop meeting like this.”

You roll your eyes, trying and failing to knock him unconscious through the material of his suit. “Yeah, quit it. Give me your skin.”

You swear you can see the eyes on his mask widen. “What the fuckdoes that mean?”

You grin in spite of yourself. “This.”

You scan his uniform, searching for any inch of available skin, but you can’t find it. By pure luck, your eyes catch on a seam between his shoulders and his jawline, as if the suit itself separates out into a mask and torso piece. You seize upon the opportunity, yanking the bottom edge of the mask up just enough to reveal an inch or two of skin.

Spider-Man attempts to twist away from you, but it’s too late, and you’re desperately pressing your hand to the bare space above his collarbone. It takes just a moment for it to work, for his body to sag in your arms.

The two of you are definitely still swinging between skyscrapers, though, so you curl the fingers of your free hand around the webbed rope and hold on for dear life until you can come to a rolling stop on a nearby roof. Your arms ache as if they’ve been pulled out of their sockets, and your entire body is screaming in outrage, but you’re alive, at least.

So is Spider-Man, albeit asleep. You may be fighting the Avengers, and by extension, him, but that doesn’t mean you want to drop him off the side of a building. Contrary to anything you’d ever tell the masked hero, you have found yourself covering up a laugh or two at his sarcastic remarks, and he’s the only Avengers affiliate you think might actually win fights for the people of this city instead of a public victory for S.H.I.E.L.D. and their men.

You drag yourself over to the section of the roof where Spider-Man lies. He’s breathing, which is good. However, his mask has ridden up on his face during the crash landing onto the roof, revealing a sliver of a smile.

You freeze in place, hand extended to pull down the mask. You know that smile, that corner of a mouth just shadowed under the recesses of the mask. You saw it just an hour or so ago. This is—

Oh, no, this is Peter Parker. This is the boy you were studying with earlier today, the one who walks with you to your locker in between classes no matter how far away his next room is, the one who has been your best friend since the dawn of time and who has also been the masked hero trying to take you down for months.

You jerk away from him, crumpling into a tangle of limbs and folded arms and awful, awful realizations. You can’t take this, not now. Not with the heavy din of S.H.I.E.L.D. helicopters still clamoring overhead, trying to find you.

You’re not going to give up on trying to dismantle the Avengers’ stringent recruitment policies when it comes to inhumans, but this has definitely thrown a wrench in your plans. Peter is already starting to come to, so you force yourself to tug the mask back down over his face so he’ll never know.

You’re long gone by the time Peter Parker wakes up, already forced into the shadows by the agents combing the rooftops in search of the villain they’ll never capture. You’re forced to take a long, irregular way home due to search patrols, and by the time you finally make it back to your room, night has long since fallen. You change out of your uniform on the way back, then let yourself into your room.

At last, safe within the confines of your apartment, you let yourself relax. You draw a shuddering breath, squeezing your eyes shut tight. You nearly died about a dozen times, and for what? You have no idea if the information on your flash drive will be useful whatsoever, and you’ve got to grapple with the fact that you’re likely going to have to keep going toe to toe with Peter whenever you try to work on your Saving Alyna crusade. You can’t keep this up.

The door swings open, and you flinch. Standing over the threshold between the hallway and your bedroom is Peter Parker, as if you’ve summoned him there by mere thought alone. You remember fleetingly that you were supposed to have a study session tonight, which you’ve probably missed. Shoot.

Peter’s mouth opens, closes, then opens again. “Sorry for startling you, I let myself in. You’re only a couple minutes late,” he answers in response to your silent question, “so don’t worry about it.”

He takes a hesitant step into the room, then frowns, eyes casting searchlight beams over your skin. “Y/N, you’re covered in bruises. Is everything alright?”

You glance down at yourself and grimace. You took several hard hits trying to escape the Avengers complex, and it’s showing now. At least you’re out of your Nightmare uniform, but you look like you got into a fight with a brick wall and lost.

You rub a tired hand over your eyes. “I, uh, tripped going down a flight of stairs. Like, a really long flight of stairs. It’s been a rough afternoon.”

Peter nods slowly, although you can’t tell if he entirely buys your lie or not. “Yeah, I can see that. I’m assuming you were held up because of all the traffic in the area, it took me forever to get here, too. Someone tried to break into the Avengers facility and now it feels like the city is being monitored by police.”

A sudden light dawns behind his eyes. “Wait a minute. You left a couple minutes early from school, as set out by a specific alert on your phone. You came back late. You’re covered in bruises.”

You really, really don’t like where this is going. “Your point is?”

Peter clasps his hands together in front of him as if he’s about to deliver a killer presentation. “You’re an Avenger. I mean, it’s hard to tell which one, because I thought I knew who a lot of them were, but we seem to be getting more by the day. Really, though. Are you an Avenger?”

You laugh before you can stop yourself, the sound like that of a lunatic. “An Avenger? No, Peter. God, no.”

In fact, you couldn’t be further from being an Avenger. You’re literally doing your best to make sure there are as few Avengers as possible. Oh, if only he knew the irony of that very question.

“Well, put it that way, and it makes it seem absurd. I’ll still be holding out hope, though.” He says.

Peter has started to turn a faint red, but all you can think about is that this was a very, very near miss. You need to be more careful, especially now that you know Peter is Spider-Man. If you were smart, you would start cutting ties with him, and make sure that Peter has as few chances as possible to figure you out.

However, you need your best friend more than anything. So, you just laugh along with him, then start to pull out your notebooks for the study session. You consider him, sitting across from you, head bowed over the latest calculus homework, and make one decisive choice. You’re not giving him up. Not now, not ever. It might destroy you, but leaving Peter behind would kill you far faster than any secret identity reveal. You just hope that he’ll extend you that same courtesy if he ever finds you out.

THIS IS A SERIES:one-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight - epilogue

‘’You claimed her at the law of surprise and yet you are still in denial, why?’’ Wong spoke towards Strange. Stephen stared out of the window as he was in deep thought. He didn’t say anything and kept ignoring him. ‘’You can’t ignore whatever destiny has brought you, you are bonded to the girl, whatever you like it or not,’’ Wong told him sternly and walked so he could stand beside him and look in the eye.

‘’It is her destiny,’’ Wong commented. ‘’Yet, even I can’t save her and what she will do to us,’’ Stephen spoke and met his eyes. ‘’You all claimed that we are bonded together but yet she will destroy us all, there’s nothing I can do for the child.’’ He spoke stubbornly. Wong looked at him with sympathy.

‘’You can at least be with her, train her how to control her powers because fate will not be kind to her when she’s older,’’ Wong told him. ‘’You’re the only one who can train her, Stephen.’’ He commented before walking away.

-

‘’You can start working in the undercroft,’’ Stephen replied before walking away.

‘’The undercroft?’’ Ned responded with wide eyes. The two of you walked downstairs and found an old room with different objects in the darkroom. The only thing that was the source of light was the small bulb light in the ceiling that Ned lighted up.

‘’Badass,’’ Ned commented as the five of you stood at the entrance. ‘’Lovely.’’ You replied with sarcasm as you saw that the room was all over the place. It seemed that nobody has been there over the decades. ‘’Guys, listen about this whole spell thing…’’ Peter began to say as MJ and Ned placed their backpacks on the floor while Ned grabbed a crossbow.

‘’It’s okay,’’ MJ interrupted him.

‘’Wait, really?’’ Peter asked shocked.

You looked at them and decided to step aside since it was their business, to begin with. You haven’t been there for Peter for a long time and you knew that he had the best friends that he could trust.

‘’I mean I get it, you were just trying to fix things, and so, maybe just run it by us next time, you know? That way you’re thinking, hey I’m about to do something that could break the universe we could like, help you,’’ MJ chuckled nervously. ‘’Workshop something or…brainstorm ideas. You watched their interaction as you began to smile towards the scene.

‘’Ned?’’ Peter asked as the three of you turned towards Ned. ‘’Okay, buddy, place the crossbow back to the table before you hurt someone in this room,’’ You warned him as he nodded. ‘’Oh, dude, I don’t care, and seriously not a big deal,’’ Ned assured him.

‘’Woah, a torture rack!’’ Ned exclaimed as the three of you watched him run towards a corner. You let out a chuckle and noticed it wasn’t a torture rack. ‘’That is a pilates machine,’’ MJ corrected him before she pointed towards the crypt. ‘’And that is-’’

‘’The crypt,’’ Peter answered as you and Peter followed MJ from behind. ‘’Okay, So we get the rest of the guys, you zap them, Doctor Magic will send them back, and then we get into MIT,’’ MJ responded as you stood in between them. ‘’And then I will offer you guys a round of stale donuts,’’ You responded with a smile as MJ looked at you.

‘’My treat,’’ You answered as she looked at you with a raised eyebrow.

‘’Let’s catch some multiverse men,’’ Ned commented, next to Peter as he held the crossbow. You rolled your eyes towards the scene as you watched the man in front of you look at you.

‘’Hey! Who the hell are these two?’’ Doctor Octavius shouted. ‘’Oh these are my friends, this is MJ, Ned, and Y/N,’’ Peter introduced as he gestured towards you. ‘’I’m sorry, what was your name again?’’ Peter asked him. ‘’Dr. Otto Octavious.’’ He answered dryly as you all began to chuckle towards the name.

It made sense since he was shaped like an octopus. ‘’Wait no, seriously what are your real name?’’ Peter asked him again. ‘’Oh, is that a dinosaur?’’ Ned questioned. You looked at him with an amused expression on your face. ‘’That’s a lizard, dude,’’ You corrected him. You sighed as all four of you got to work and tried to find the other multiverse men.

Peter washed his spiderman suit while Ned picked his computer up. ‘’I got one!’’ Ned repeated as he tried to gain everyone’s attention. You all walked towards him towards the table as you surrounded him. ‘’I mean you can take the guy out of the chair but you can’t take the chair out of the guy,’’ Ned responded.

‘’What did you find?’’ You asked him. ‘’There’s a disturbance near a military research facility outside of the city,’’ Ned informed you. ‘’And witnesses say they saw a monster flying through the air,’’ Ned continued as Peter looked at him. ‘’That’s got to be the guy you saw on the bridge, right?’’ Ned asked Peter as all of you looked at him.

‘’That’s impossible,’’ You all turned towards Doctor Octavious. His back was faced in front of you. ‘’What do you mean?’’ You asked him with wide eyes. ‘’You know him, don’t you?’’ Peter asked him. ‘’On the bridge, you said his name,’’ Peter responded as he walked closer to him.

‘’Norman Osborn,’’ He answered before turning around slowly. ‘’Brilliant scientist, military researcher, but he was greedy, misguided…’’

‘’What happened to him?’’

‘’We tire of your questions, boy!’’ He began to shout, startling all of you. ‘’I gotta go, I need to find him,’’ Peter told you as you nodded.

‘’It can’t be him,’’ You heard him reply as it regained all of your attention back to him.

‘’And why is that?’’ You asked him with a calmer voice. He turned and met your eyes. ‘’Because Norman Osborn died years ago, so either we saw someone else, or you’re flying out into the darkness to fight a ghost,’’

THIS IS A SERIES:one-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight-epilogue

You opened your eyes as a bright light surrounded your eyes. You blinked several times to adjust the bright light. You realized that you were laying on the ground and that you were in a town. But not New York. It seemed from whatever had brought you here, wanted you to be there.

You stood up from the ground and looked around. It was quiet and the only person was you, standing lost in some neighborhood. You didn’t know how or why you were there but something inside of your stomach was telling you it was wrong.

You needed to get out of there.

You looked around and began to walk. You didn’t know where, but all you knew was that you were trying to find someone that could tell where you were and how to get out of there. Soon enough, you find yourself standing in front of a house.

You furrowed your brows and wondered why it led you there. You couldn’t explain it but something or someone was drawing you closer. You knocked on the door and the door opened to reveal a woman. ‘’Can I help you?’’ The woman answered with a kind smile. You looked at her and saw that her clothes were different from yours.

You didn’t know why but the woman in front of you was strange. ‘’Yes, I’m a little lost and I was wondering if I could borrow your phone?’’ You asked her. ‘’Of course! Anything for a lost cause,’’ The woman responded kindly. She let you in as you stepped inside the house.

‘’Can I offer you a drink? Or something to eat?’’ She questioned as you shook your head.

‘’No, thanks,’’ You answered. ‘’So, tell me, kiddo, what brings you here to Westview?’’ The woman in front of you asked. She held a curious expression and looked at you. ‘’I don’t know actually, it’s kind of a long story,’’ You answered as she nodded.

‘’The phone’s in the kitchen,’’ She answered as you nodded. You took the phone but something told you that the woman was kind off of. You tried to push the numbers in but all you could hear was static. The phone wasn’t working.

You walked to the living room. ‘’Excuse me, the phone isn’t working,’’ You told her. ‘’Oh, sorry, sweetheart, I didn’t know, my husband Ralf is working late and he’s the only one in his house who can fix those things,’’ The woman apologized.

‘’You can stay over for the night? If you have no rush of course,’’

You looked at her. ‘’Of course,’’ You answered. You didn’t see what harm any harm would do. ‘’Perfect! I will begin with the dinner right now!’’ The woman told you with a smile. She began to walk past you but you felt something weird. ‘’Excuse me-’’ You said and touched her shoulder.

You let out a gasp when you saw the woman change into different clothes. ‘’Woah! finally!’’ The woman in front of you responded. The woman began to mutter something before she noticed you. ‘’Oh, my…’’ She began to say and you looked at her confused. ‘’Who are you?’’ You asked as she looked at you with amazement. ‘’The question is who are you?’’ She repeated and began to circle around. ‘’You are her, aren’t you?’’ The woman spoke with wide eyes. ‘’Who?’’ You looked at her. ‘’Don’t worry, soon enough, you will know exactly who you are,’’

‘’My name’s Agatha Harkness, lovely to meet you,’’ She introduced herself as she stepped closer. And it was all you remembered before you saw her using her magic towards you. You stood frozen as you watched her disappear into thin air while your eyes began to glow purple with a smirk on your face.

(bolded is who i couldn’t tag)

THIS IS A SERIES: one-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight-epilogue

‘’Where’s Peter?’’ You asked them once as you let go of MJ and Ned from your embrace.

Panic flooded through you when you remembered that he had been hit by the Green Goblin. ‘’Is he okay?’’ You questioned them as your eyes darted between the two. ‘’He’s over there,’’ MJ answered and pointed behind you. The shield that had fallen from the statue was now on the ground.

You could see Norman and Peter fighting against each other but the thing was that Norman wasn’t even fighting back. You watched with horror as Peter kept punching him and you’ve spent your life trying to protect him away from the darkness.

Peter held Norman’s glider in his hands and before he could throw it, he was stopped by Peter 2. Peter gritted his teeth with anger in his eyes as he tried to push the glider against Peter 2. He grunted with anger with every push he tried to do past by Peter 2 but it was no use. Peter 2 froze as his eyes were wide when he felt Norman stab him in the back. He gasped and fell to the ground.

‘’She’s dead because of you, I may have struck her, but you…You are the one that killed her,’’ Norman told him as he began to laugh menacingly. Peter 3 threw a knife at Peter, you watched him with horror as he stabbed Norman in the neck. He fell to the ground as you watched blood pour out.

Both Peters ran to Peter on the ground. ‘’You okay?’’ Peter 3 asked as Peter 2 laughed while lying on the floor. ‘’Yeah, I’ve been stabbed multiple times,’’ Peter 2 responded while Peter 3 helped him stand up. ‘’Okay, let me help you up,’’ He told him as Peter 2 groaned in pain as Peter 1 looked at them. ‘’I have to go and see Doctor Strange, I’ll be back,’’ Peter told them and pointed towards Doctor Strange on top of the statue. They both nodded and watched him swing away.

‘’I’m going to go over there with them, you wanna come with me?’’ You asked MJ and gestured your head towards them. MJ nodded and then looked at Ned. ‘’Yeah,’’ She answered. The three of you walked over to the two Peters. ‘’Hey, what’s going on?’’ You questioned as you looked between the two.

‘’I think this might be it,’’ You heard a voice behind you as you whipped your head and saw Peter. He met your eyes and he was relieved that you were still alive. You watched Peter as he walked towards the other Peters. ‘’Look, I uh, thank you, I just, I- I want to tell you…’’ Peter stumbled between his words. ‘’Peter, we know, it what we do,’’

Peter looked at them with a comforting smile before he pointed towards MJ and Ned. ‘’I guess, I’m gonna talk to my friends, thank you,’’ Peter told them. ‘’For everything,’’ They nodded and watched him go to MJ and Ned. You watched Peter go to Ned and MJ as you felt Peter 3’s gaze on you.

You approached the two of them. ‘’How’s your wound?’’ You asked Peter 2 with a concerned gaze. ‘’I have been through worse,’’ Peter 2 responded with a chuckle. He looked between the two of you. ‘’I will let you talk with him alone,’’ He told you as you sent him a smile and watched him stumble away.

You felt his hand sneaking around your waist as he dragged you closer to his body and placed his forehead against yours. ‘’I guess, this is the end,’’ He mumbled as you met his eyes. ‘’Yeah,’’ You nodded. ‘’Will I ever see you again?’’ He asked as you looked into his eyes. ‘’Something is telling me that we will see each other again,’’ You answered.

You heard footsteps approaching you and you turned your head and saw Peter coming towards you. ‘’Hey, we need to talk,’’ Peter told you as you looked at him concerned. You looked at Peter 3 before you followed him to Ned and MJ. ‘’You’re going to forget who I am,’’ He revealed as soon the four of you gathered.

‘’Excuse me-’’

‘’What?’’ MJ and you spoke at the same time.

‘’It’s okay, I’ll come to find you guys and I’ll explain, I’ll make you remember me,’’ You looked at him with a concerned expression. ‘’Yeah? And what if that doesn’t work? What if we can’t remember you?’’ You rambled. ‘’I don’t wanna do that,’’ Peter looked at you. ‘’There’s nothing we can do,’’

‘’So we’ll just completely forget you? After everything, we had been through?’’ You exclaimed with a lump in your throat. ‘’It’s the only way…’’ Peter responded sadly.

‘’Promise you’ll find us?’’ Ned spoke.

‘’I promise,’’ Peter whispered and did his signature handshake, a final goodbye. Peter looked at you, as he could see tears streaming down your face. ‘’You have to come to find us, Peter, It won’t be the same,’’ You told him and shook your head. Peter looked at you and embraced you tightly.

‘’I know,’’

‘’It’s happening,’’ You heard Doctor Strange’s voice. You all turned to him as you could see the sky turned into purple and split in the middle. You looked at Stephen with concern. ‘’What’s happening?’’ You called out as he tried to stop whatever is happening come through. He looked at you.

‘’They’re starting to come through and I can’t stop it,’’ He told you as you saw different shadows of people trying to come through. ‘’There’s got to be another way,’’ Peter said.

‘’There is a way,’’ He responded and looked at you. ‘’My magic is not strong for this, but you…’’

‘’No, no way,’’ You stopped him and shook his head. ‘’I’m not doing this and you both know why,’’ You argued as you felt fear coursing through. ‘’Y/N we don’t have time, any second now, people from different of the multiverse will breakthrough and there’s nothing we could do and stop them,’’

‘’I- I can’t…’’ You gulped.

‘’It’s the only way…’’ He responded. You looked at Peter for help. ‘’You can do this, Y/n,’’ Peter 3 said as he approached you. ‘’But what if…’’ You began to say as he cut you off. ‘’There’s no if, you can do it, and I know you will because we all believe in you,’’ Peter 3 assured as he held your hand.

You looked at him and nodded. ‘’Remember what we taught you,’’ Stephen told you. You looked at him and began to close your eyes. You felt your magic through your veins and as you opened your eyes, they began to glow purple. You began to do the spell and remember Wanda’s words and as well Stephen echoed through your mind.

But you felt something strange.

‘’Something is wrong,’’ You spoke.

‘’What’s happening, Y/n?’’ You heard Stephen’s question.

‘’I don’t know,’’ You answered. You began to feel pain in your stomach and you felt that you were losing control. You could hear Peter 3’s voice and Stephen calling your name in the background but to you it was quiet. A sudden bright light surrounded them all that had them cover their eyes.

And suddenly, everything went quiet.

‘’Did she do it?’’ Peter 1 questioned. Peter 3 looked at his hand and saw it begin to glow.

‘’She did it,’’ He answered as Peter 1 watched them disappear.

‘’But where is she?’’ Stephen asked. Peter looked at him.

‘’Where’s Y/N?’’

THIS IS A SERIES:one-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight - epilogue

You were hurting.

You tried not to think about it, but it was hard not to.

You were worried. So worried for him and you knew that he could take care of himself. You wondered if this was fate. That the two of you were meant to be with each other no matter the odds.

MJ noticed your expression when you walked out of the balcony and she knew that something was going on between you and Peter 3. All of them noticed it but they didn’t ask.

You sighed and fidgeted your fingers nervously. ‘’When is he going to throw the box to us?’’ Ned asked for the millionth time. You didn’t blame him since the three of you were nervous. You wanted to help them but you were too scared of using your powers so you stayed behind with Ned and MJ.

‘’I don’t know when the signal comes,’’ You responded and gulped. ‘’Wait, there’s Peter!’’ MJ’s voice called out as you saw a portal approaching you. You looked at her and saw Spiderman swinging towards you. ‘’Where?’’ You questioned and moved closer so you could see him.

‘’MJ, heads up!’’ He shouted and swung from pole to pole and threw the box. MJ crouched and caught it just in time. ‘’Close it, Ned!’’ You yelled as he nodded and began to move his finger to close it but it never did. ‘’Why isn’t it closing?’’ You replied with a shaky voice. ‘’It’s not closing,’’ MJ stated as both of you looked over Ned.

‘’Why?’’

‘’I-I don’t know!’’ Ned panicked as he repeated his movements desperately. ‘’Have you closed it before?’’ MJ asked and tilted her head. ‘’No! I mean, I’ve opened-’’

‘’Ned! Why didn’t you let us know before?’’ MJ shouted as you closed your eyes. ‘’Oh, we’re so screwed,’’ You commented. ‘’It just slipped my mind!’’ Ned yelled panicked. ‘’Okay, just keep trying,’’ You told him as you tried to calm him down.

‘’Do you want me to try instead?’’ You asked him. ‘’No, I won’t let you do it since we both know your powers are uncontrollable,’’ Ned stated as he hid the ring away. You looked at him with amusement. ‘’For the love of god, Ned-’’ You two kept bickering while you heard MJ’s voice.

‘’Guys!, No, No,’’ She panicked as you felt MJ pull you away from Ned. ‘’And that’s a lizard,’’ You stated with wide eyes and saw the lizard running towards all of you. Ned tried to close the portal as both of you and MJ began to yell. You pulled Ned as all of you ran back to screaming with fear.

You heard him roar and before you could process what was happening, a web was shot and Peter kicked him in the back. The Lizard roared as wood was flying everywhere and you could hear MJ scream. ‘’Run!’’ The three of you were running out of the portal and through the scaffolding. You looked up and saw Stephen walking out of the portal and you gulped when you saw your mentor’s expression. ‘’Where is he?’’ He asked you and met your eyes as he took the box away from MJ and Ned. ‘’Wait, wait, the plan is working! Peter is curing them,’’ Ned tried to explain as you all turned to behind to see Peter Parker standing near a green smoke.

‘’Well, I’ll be damned,’’ Stephen muttered and turned back towards Ned with a frown. ‘’Did you just open a portal?’’ Ned nodded. ‘’Yes, sir, I did,’’

‘’Several times, actually,’’ You agreed as Stephen looked at you. ‘’Is it over?’’ You asked as you looked over and saw Peter 3 with his mask off as he talked with Electro. The older Peter was talking to Doc Ock. ‘’Not yet,’’ Stephen answered and disappeared into another portal. You watched as he was in front of your Peter as he yelled Peter’s name and soon enough the others Peter went to join him.

You let out a small laugh towards the scene. ‘’After this, I need to take a long nap,’’ You commented and looked at MJ. MJ hummed in response and stood next to you as she placed her head on top of your shoulder. Suddenly, everything went quiet when you saw the fear on their faces.

‘’Can the Spiderman come out and play?’’ A voice called out as the green goblin came out with his slider. You looked at him with horror as you saw that he threw out his device in the air. The bomb blew up while he took the chance to steal the box from Stephen. ‘’Strange, no!’’ You screamed as the bomb went off. An explosion made your ears ring. Black smoke was covered in the sky as you felt the poles shake.

The Statues shield crashed through the poles and before you knew it, you could feel that you were falling down. You let out a breath while you saw that both MJ and Ned tried to help you from falling. Everything fell silent and it felt like everything was in slow motion but yet it happened so fast.

You could hear MJ and Ned scream in the background. You closed your eyes and almost accepted it, that this was the end. But you saw Peter, your brother fall for you before the green goblin threw him away from you. Peter 3 saw you falling as he leaped off the statue for you.

He needed to be alive for him.

His body fell towards you tightly around the waist as your face was buried into his neck. Your body shivered with fear as Peter shot webs to the top of a pole once he landed on the ground. Nobody said anything at first as he let you breathe for a second.

‘’Are you okay?’’ He asked, his voice shaking. You looked up with him, fear crossing your face, and nodded. You saw him as he tried to hold back a sob. You looked at him with sympathy before you cupped his cheek. He leaned in your hand as he placed his forehead on top of yours.

This time when the two of you leaned into each other, Peter didn’t hesitate to place his lips against yours. The kiss was bittersweet and it was known that maybe fate was planning that the two of you belonged to each other.

You gasped as the two of you tried to catch your breath as you looked into his eyes. ‘’Thank you for saving me,’’ You replied as you wiped the tears from his face. He smiled at you. ‘’I’m just relieved that I got a second chance,’’ He responded as he placed you back to the ground.

‘’Peter’s fighting Norman,’’ You told him as he nodded. ‘’I should probably go back,’’ He commented as you nodded. ‘’I’ll be back,’’ He replied before he kissed you one more time before he went back to Peter.

THIS IS A SERIES:one-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight - epilogue

‘’It is weird, isn’t it?’’ Ned’s voice gained your attention back to him. You took your eyes off Peter 3.

‘’What is weird?’’ You asked him with a frown. ‘’That we found out that multiverse is real and there are other spidermen and where you have a crush on one of them considering that Peter 1 is literally like your brother?’’ Ned spoke.

You looked at him with wide eyes. ‘’I do not-’’ You began to say as he waved you off. ‘’Save the details,’’ He shrugged it off. You only stared at him blankly. ‘’It doesn’t matter anyway, I’m going to die soon, it’s no point.’’ You shrugged. Ned looked at you with sadness before he glanced back at Peter 3.

‘’Go and talk to him,’’ Ned told you as you looked at him. ‘’I know you said it wasn’t the point to get to know him, but both of you lost the people you loved and it wouldn’t hurt anyway since he’s going to go back to his world when we’re done with this,’’ Ned responded as you looked at him.

He had a good point.

You let out a deep breath before turning one last glance at Ned. ‘’Wish me good luck,’’ You muttered as he sent you an encouraging grin before you walked towards Peter 3. Your heart started to race fast and Peter 3 could hear it. He didn’t know why he felt this way but when he knew that you were going to approach him, he felt excited.

He hasn’t met someone like you. Not after when he lost Gwen and when Gwen died, he longed to feel the love that Gwen gave to him whenever she was near. He grew hopeless, thinking that he maybe was destined to be alone for the rest of his life.

That was until when he met you. He had heard about you in his universe, but in his world, you were a villain. He only heard the rumors about a girl born with the fate that was already destined to be the destroyer of the world. To end all of the Sorcerer supreme.

Unlike the others, he pitied you.

He saw from the corner of his eye that you approached him. But before you could talk to him, MJ approached you. His expression dropped. ‘’Hey, sorry for interrupting, but I convinced our Peter to talk to you,’’ MJ told you. You looked at her. ‘’No matter how angry he is, he can’t lose you, and both of you know it,’’ MJ responded.

‘’He’s standing at the balcony,’’ MJ informed as she gestured towards the balcony where you could see Peter 1 standing. You nodded as you walked towards Peter 1. The fresh air hit you once as you opened the door before you stood next to him. Nobody said anything at first while the two of you looked at New York.

‘’I know that you still hate me for what I did,’’ You replied as you kept staring at New York. You could feel Peter’s gaze on you. ‘’But you should know that I never meant to hurt you,’’ You told him and met his eyes.

‘’But I can’t let you die,’’ Peter commented with tears in his eyes.

‘’I know,’’ You whispered. ‘’But we don’t have a choice,’’

‘’There’s always a choice,’’ Peter began to say. ‘’Not this time,’’ You answered and shook your head. Peter looked at you. ‘’Are you sure? Have you ever asked about it?’’ Peter questioned. ‘’Or even tried to stop it?’’

‘’Of course, I have, Peter, there’s no other way,’’ You replied. ‘’New beginnings have an ending and there’s nothing we can’t change about it,’’ You told him.

-

You stood alone while Peter was with the others. You needed some time alone to think about your life. You didn’t want to die. You wanted to live but when the prophecy was already settled, you knew that you didn’t have a choice.

You heard the door open from behind as you turned around and much to your surprise, you saw Peter 3. ‘’Are you okay? I haven’t seen you inside for a while,’’ He responded with an assuring smile. ‘’I’m fine,’’ You replied with a smile. But Peter could tell that something was bothering you.

‘’Something else is bothering you, I can see it, you can’t lie to me, you know?’’ He chuckled and stood next to you. ‘’It took my whole life to understand if there’s something worth fighting for,’’ You spit it out. You didn’t know why you were opening up to some stranger but you and Peter 3 did become very close in a very short time.

You’ve always felt different around your friends, and even to your so-called brother. ‘’I feel like I’m not capable of doing anything and I’m justtired,’’ You confessed and closed your eyes. Peter looked at you and you felt his hands on your shoulders. ‘’Look at me,’’ You opened your eyes and met his brown ones. You never realized until now how beautiful they were.

‘’Listen to me, I know how you feel and we both are tired and it’s okay to feel like this,’’ He assured you. ‘’When I lost Gwen, I was tired of life, I was thinking that I had done something wrong that maybe I was destined to be alone maybe forever, but did you know what I did?’’ He questioned as you shook your head.

‘’I kept fighting, again and again,’’

You didn’t say anything but kept quiet. You looked at his face and you almost got lost in his eyes. Without the two of you knowing, you two kept leaning into each other. From almost day one, you had felt that you needed to be close with Peter. You didn’t know why but something drew you closer to him.

It took entire Peter’s strength to pull him back away from you. He didn’t want to look at your face since he knew that it hurt you too. ‘’Peter…’’ You began to say and he shook his head and it’s almost you could hear his thoughts.

‘’Don’t,’’ He began and stepped away from you slowly. You looked at him with tears in your eyes. ‘’I don’t want you to end up like her,’’ Peter told you as you tried to swallow the lump in your throat. ‘’I know,’’ You whispered. ‘’But she would’ve wanted you to be happy,’’ You assured him.

‘’I don’t want this, I want to protect you, even from myself,’’

‘’Just please…’’ You pleaded. ‘’Just let me love you,’’ You responded.

‘’This shouldn’t have happened,’’ Peter said before he walked away from you, leaving you all alone on the balcony. You tried to stop him but he could walk away. You fell on the floor with your hand on your stomach, broken.

THIS IS A SERIES:one-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight - epilogue

Aunt May was dead.

It was all over the news and as soon you heard it, your heart broke. You knew her through Peter and ever since she knew that you and Peter were like siblings, she started to take care of you as her own. You wanted to break down in Ned’s aunt’s living room but you needed to be strong and be there for Peter.

That’s at least you can give it to him when the steaks are high. Peter was off to find the other guys while you, MJ, and Ned had to guard the object that Peter gave. You didn’t know what it was for but Peter told you it was an object where it would send the guys off back to their universes.

So, here you were, stuck with your old friends and hoping to see the open door by Peter. But he didn’t come and you all were worried about him. MJ wanted to press the button, but you had told her that you guys should wait for Peter. That’s how you ended here, Ned with Doctor’s Strange’s ring trying to find Peter Parker.

‘’Ned…Do that again,’’ You hear MJ whisper with her eyes wide as she leaned closer. Your breath hitched as you watched him the nod and close his eyes. ‘’I just we could see him!’’ Ned called out, moving his fist into a circular motion. A familiar beam of yellow light form appeared in front of you.

You widened your eyes when you saw the back of a man in a spiderman suit far away in the alleyway. He whipped his body around, eyes wide at the portal. ‘’Oh my god,’’ You whispered as you began to feel relieved when you saw that your Peter was okay. ‘’Is that him?’’ MJ asked you as she leaned over. ‘’It has to be, right?’’ You asked her.

‘’Yeah,’’ Ned stammered with his mouth agape. ‘’Peter!’’ MJ called him.

‘’Peter!’’ The three of you began to call out to him. Peter began to jog closer to the portal, but as he came closer, you could feel that he wasn’t your Peter. You squinted your eyes when you saw his suit closer. It wasn’t the same and you immediately knew that wasn’t your Peter. You grabbed MJ’s arm as you put her behind you.

He swiftly grabbed his mask to reveal his identity, but it wasn’t Peter Parker. It was a man who seemed to be older than your Peter, he had long messy hair as he studied each of you. His eyes suddenly turned towards you as his expression changed. ‘’Who the hell are you?’’ You and MJ asked at the same time while she pointed at him.

‘’I’m Peter Parker,’’ He responded.

‘’No, you’re not,’’ You told him as he looked at you with a chuckle.

‘’I’m spiderman, in my world-’’ He responded as he pointed to himself before he continued. ‘’But yesterday, I was just here,’’ He replied slowly as his eyes darted towards everyone.

‘’Wow,’’ Ned commented as Peter cautiously moved towards the side. ‘’Multidimensional reality and matter displacement, all real?’’ He asked as you watched him with amusement.

‘’Yes,’’ You answered dryly. ‘’I knew it!’’ A smile grew onto his face as he pumped his fist into the air. ‘’Anyway, we still need to find our Peter,’’ You told them as you brought back the attention.

‘’No offense,’’ You replied and looked towards the other Peter.

‘’None taken,’’ Peter commented. MJ nodded her head as the two of you turned towards Ned. ‘’You’re ready for this big boy?’’ You asked him as he nodded as he squinted his eyes and prepared to cast the other portal. ‘’Find Peter parker!’’ Ned called out as he did the same motion as he did earlier. You furrowed your brows when you saw a man come closer, but not Peter.

‘’Hello,’’ He greeted all of you as you frowned. He wasn’t Peter but older and looked like a regular man as he waved. ‘’Uhm, I hope it was okay, I just came through this-’’ He turned to look at the portal before it closed. ‘’Oh, it’s just closed,’’ He responded confused.

Nobody spoke before his gaze drifted towards the other Peter and then suddenly, they shot webs to each other as they flipped upside and down before they paused and started laughing. You looked towards MJ. ‘’What just happened?’’ You whispered as she shrugged.

‘’I have no idea,’’ She responded. ‘’You’re spiderman too, why don’t you just say that?’’ Ned asked the older Peter.

‘’That kind of defeats the whole anonymous superhero thing,’’ He laughed as you looked towards the other Peter. ‘’Wait, you said the same thing,’’ You answered and tilted your head as Peter chuckled towards your expression.

‘’Okay guys, I think we’re getting distracted, we need to find our real Peter,’’ MJ replied as you nodded. ‘’Alright, how do we find him?’’ You asked them as you looked towards Peter 2 and 3. ‘’Why are you looking at us?’’ Peter two asked. ‘’Because you are the same person? You guys would have a place where you can be just you?’’ You questioned. ‘’Get away from everything?’’ You added.

‘’Well, there is a place that he would go to that has a meaning to him?’’ Peter 3 asked. ‘’From me, it was the top of the Chrysler building,’’

‘’Empire state building,’’

‘’That is a sweet view,’’

‘’Yeah, I know where that might be,’’ MJ told them.

-

‘’Do you need any help?’’ Peter 3 asked as soon as all of you had arrived at the place. He had swung MJ and Ned to the roof. You chuckled at him and shook your head. ‘’No, I’m good, I have my own thing,’’ You answered as he looked at you with confusion.

‘’I’ll show you,’’ You replied with a sly grin as your hands glowed into a purple color before you used your magic to float on the roof. ‘’Wow,’’ You heard him as he swung himself back to the roof.

‘’It’s not much, but it’s the only thing that doesn’t remind me of how bad it can be sometimes,’’ You told him. You didn’t know why you began to tell him all of that. But something about it made you wanna tell your story.

‘’How bad can it be then?’’ He asked with wide eyes.

‘’Bad, almost as bad I can hurt the people I love,’’ You told him sadly before walking towards Peter. ‘’Peter, there are some people here you need to meet,’’ You told him as he turned around and looked at you.

‘’What?’’ He choked out and looked up towards the building where two dark figures sat low. ‘’Wait, wait, wait,’’ He held up his hand when he widened his eyes that he saw that they had the same suit.

‘’I’m sorry about May,’’

‘’I got some understanding of-’’ Peter 3 tried to assure him but got cut off.

‘’No, you have no idea what I’m going through, she’s gone and it’s all my fault, she died for nothing,’’ Peter told them with tears in his eyes. ‘’You don’t belong here, those guys are from your world, right? You deal with it, either they die or you help them, I don’t care anymore, I’m done,’’

‘’Peter-’’ You began to say but he looked at you.

‘’Don’t-’’ He began to say. ‘’You don’t have the right to stand here and try to tell me where everything is going to be all right after you left me,’’

You stood frozen there as you looked at him with hurt in your eyes. ‘’I lost Gwen,’’ Peter 3 began to say after a short silence. “I couldn’t save her, I won’t ever forgive myself for that, I carry on and try to continue being that friendly neighborhood spiderman, because I know that’s what she would have wanted.”

‘’But then I stopped pulling my punches, I got grateful, I got bitter, I don’t want you to end up being like me, but we can stop that,’’

“The night Ben died I got my revenge. It didn’t make it better. It took me a long time to learn to get through that darkness.” Peter 2 shared.

“Aunt May… She told me that with great power-”

Peters eyebrows furrowed as he looked between the two men, “how, how do you know?”

“Uncle Ben said it.” Peter 3 whispered.

“Maybe she didn’t die for nothing Peter.”
