#anti native racism
because I haven’t seen anything posted about it here, the Māori people are currently going through a similar struggle to the people protecting Mauna Kea, where the sacred land at Ihumātau is going to be destroyed and turned into housing. the people who have a right to the Whenua or land have been thrown out by police and there are currently protesters fighting against this. for us the land is such a sacred thing, it’s what gives us our Mana Whenua and it represents what our ancestors fought for. this land was taken from us in 1863, in breach of the Treaty of Waitangi, and the people have been fighting for it since. the choice to start building on it is a fucking disgusting move by Fletcher Building, and honestly not good enough by a government who has done nothing yet to stop this shit from happening
if anyone is near that area, turn the fuck up for our people and help join in the protest. send letters, emails, whatever works best to Fletcher Building and the government, keep talking about this, sign petitions, post about it, make sure everyone is aware that this shit is not good enough. not in 2019, not in a country that supposedly is helping restore our land, but in all reality is just taking the pretty parts of Māori culture and ignoring the rest
hey reminder to stopppp fuckingggg making jokes about the “there are two wolves inside you” it was literally invented by a racist white man as a caricature of native legends for his christian ideals
white people stop TALKING on this POST don’t say “oh teehee i didn’t know i’m so so sorry” just be QUIET for ONCE
not to be a hater but i fucking despise the youtuber wendigoon for making an entire brand out of a native american legend, but not even the fact that its blatant appropriation, but that its based around one of the things you arent even supposed to acknowledge or say the name of out loud. and now theyre making plushes out of it like its something cute and quirky…
….its not like people arent telling them this is not fucking ok, but whatever right
All right my Comanche, Creek, and Cherokee fam: if you have ANY dirt on Johnny Depp’s claims to any of these cultures and want to debunk them, message me, comment here with sources, etc. Please let me know if you want to go on the record (anonymously, if you feel more comfortable that way).

This is the only post I’m going to make regarding the Modern Warrior / Chelsea Hart situation.
WitchyTwitchy, an indigenous woman who was just DUETED by Modern Warrior on Tiktok, became the target of harassment and hate by Chelsea Hart’s fans. She wasn’t involved with Modern Warrior, she had nothing to do with any of the drama, and was mass reported and harassed until her account was banned from Tiktok.
If you are on Native Tiktok, go to your Settings, go to Report a Problem, and tell them that WitchyTwitchyTV was wrongfully banned and was the target of harassment and deserves to have her platform restored.
This is unacceptable.

I watched The Lone Ranger so you don’t have to.
I livetweeted my experience. Follow the link above.
Short version: not only is it insanely racist, it’s far worse than I thought it would be capable of.
A tweet thread by LucasBrownEyes on twitter:
You wanna talk about Cancel Culture? Many Native activists were getting attention in the 1960s and 1970s and some representation was about to happen in media. But America couldn’t have that and TWO U.S. PRESIDENTS started black listing Native Artists.
Native erasure was policy.
Johnny Cash at the height of his fame was censored for speaking about Native issues. He had to promote it himself. Radio stations wouldn’t play it because it was about Native struggles.
Imagine as radio stations not playing Taylor Swift because she said “hey don’t be racist”
When Marlon Brando ask Sacheen Littlefeather on the academy stage to accept his Oscar about talk about mistreatment of Natives in Hollywood. John Wayne tried to tackle her. Then it became a joke in Hollywood as it did its best to erase Natives for the next 5 decades.
Getting fired because you broke company policy by being racist isn’t Cancel Culture. Having everyone from radio DJs, to award shows, to the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES gate keep you because you’re Native, is
i haven’t seen anything on my dash about it so
today is the anniversary of the Wounded Knee Massacre (Dec 29, 1890). The United States in cold blood murdered Lakota men, women, and children. Slaughtered them and have the nerve to call it a “battle” as if there was any fighting done in return.
Today native people still struggle against the effects of cultural and physical genocide. Our voices are often smothered by others but we are still strong. And we never forget.

There are also many native people posting memorials and thoughts on Twitter.
with spooky season approaching i would like to once again gently remind the rpc that
- w*ndigo and sk*nwalkers are not generic cryptids and creatures and should not be treated as such! they are intrinsic to specific indigenous lore and should be treated with respect.
- goblins and ghouls can quickly fall into antisemitic tropes so tread carefully and do your research!
- a lot of stereotypical witch imagery can also fall into antisemetic tropes so once again tread carefully and do your research, ESPECIALLY if your witch character is meant to be jewish.
The term derives from the extremely horrific and racist act of selling Native scalps, ‘skins’, to the United States government. Here is an actual advertisement from The Daily Republican newspaper in Sept. 24, 1863:
Look, non-Indigenous can run around claiming it is non-offensive and it is somewhat common to find Natives who aren’t particularly perturbed by this, mostly because in the hierarchy of needs, the NFL falls way under land rights, clean drinking water, food deserts, etc. I have family members who used to proudly wear ‘Red***n’ apparel, because they were excited it ‘had a Native’ on it. Any representation is better than none, to some people.
With that said, finding one Native who approves of something, who you can then trot out as a spokesperson, is a racist act in its own right. You are essentially telling us that our identity is singular and represented by your designated colonizer.
I don’t care if the term was supposedly created by a Native Person or deemed okay by an Indigenous person. That is like saying that Stella Kübler was the expert spokesperson for all things Jewish or that Ben Carson speaks for the entire Black American community. The term is extremely offensive. There should not even be an argument about this. Instead it should be an education. Indigenous people are not mascots or pets that people can selectively choose to highlight when it is beneficial or supports whatever myth they are trying to sell.
