Finally sat down to watch the beautifully horrifying film Midsommar, and I gotta say I loved it. ⠀
I had the opportunity to read the script before watching the film thanks to @a24 having their scripts on their website, because they are amazing. I feel like this helped me get an even deeper look into the film as I watched it, and even though I knew what was coming, I was still shocked. @ari.aster is a brilliant writer/director and although I’m mad this is only his second feature film, I also loved Hereditary. This is a vacation film about break-ups, emotional support, and Scandinavian white people cults. Although besides some of the rituals performed, I think I would be with it. This film is definitely not for the faint of heart, and doesn’t shy away from anything it portrays! I loved it for its beautiful cinematography and subtle authenticity and I can’t wait to see what Ari Aster will horrify me with next. ⠀
