#arielle draws
I’m leading a little workshop/walkthrough on Daisie next week about making illustrations from a storytelling POV! There will also be time for some participants to share pieces with me and get my feedback~ It’s also completely free!
The information in this workshop is probably most helpful to beginners or artists who love drawing characters but maybe don’t like drawing backgrounds so much and want some advice on how to get over that hurdle. There’s a bunch of spots left, so feel free to come through~
Happy book birthday to my new graphic novel BLACK STAR!! ⭐️✨ (Available wherever books are sold~ :D )
pop star singing about generational trauma in a powder blue suit, sign me upppp.
go check out Rina Sawayama’s performance on NPR Tiny Desk~ :’)
I didn’t watch the movie, but here’s a redraw of a seven year old sketch I did of the comic version of America Chavez.
for season two of Our Flag Means Death I would like smooth Stede & flustered Ed, like, “i was absolute rubbish at courting Mary but maybe I’ll have better luck with the fearsome Blackbeard.” ☠️❤️
hello, if you jumped ship from twitter.
#artvsartist wild year. released two graphic novels. got to draw a few other cool things. more in 2022. thanks for your support, tumblr friends~ ✨✨✨
✨ I drew a little section in ARCHIE’S HOLIDAY MAGIC SPECIAL #1, which is out at comic shops today from Archie Comics. Very jazzed to draw the true OTP of the Archie world: Jughead + Food.
Here’s a little preview, colored by the fantastic Matt Herms and written by the fabulous Micol Ostow. Let me know if you pick this up at your local comic book store.
The Nobleman’s Guide to Scandal and Shipwrecks by Mackenzi Lee
I’ve really enjoyed listening to the Montague sibling series on audiobook lately! :)
the joy of seeing your favorite superhero debut in the MCU.
honestly, I’m all about making tumblr my main social media outlet again, so here’s me shoving some sketches I don’t think I posted yet onto here.
like everyone in the world, I sure had an … interesting last 2 years, and somehow it’s culminated in me feeling very nostalgic. I have fond memories of this website, even though it is quite literally hosting my art from (…..omg my jaw just dropped when I checked this) TEN YEARS AGO. fully TEN years ago!!!! I was a college junior when I started posting here, and this year I started teaching college seniors.
magical girl who lowkey hates herself. :P
Twitter and Insta algorithms are adding unnecessary stress to my life. I miss Tumblr.
Got the okay to share my first test on Cruella’s character design for the EVIL THING graphic novel adaptation by Serena Valentino. I really loved getting to put my spin on this character–she has such a malleable face for expression. ❤️ Thanks again to the team at Disney Books~
EVIL THING: A VILLAINS GRAPHIC NOVEL comes out next week on September 28~
I had the opportunity to draw this promotional poster and the interior spot illustrations of Elissa Sussman’s upcoming YA novel DRAWN THIS WAY.
Set in animation studio, this book follows Hayley, a super ambitious and creative teen girl as she tries to prove herself in the boys club of her dream industry. I got this manuscript in my inbox last year and absolutely ADORED it. Couldn’t put it down.
If you’re interested in the book, you can pre-order it by 9/20 via @therippedbodice and a book signed by the author, along with my print! They’re also doing a launch event which you can register for (details in the image above.) I really recommend this book to anyone who’s interested in animation or any creative industry at all! ✏️✨
I needed to do a demo about character’s spaces being an extension of the character themselves, so here’s a take on Kate Bishop’s bedroom.
✨ I’m thrilled to share my cover for the upcoming graphic novel adaptation of Serena Valentino’s Cruella De Vil origin story EVIL THING. ❤️ Out this Fall on September 28 — pre-order wherever books are sold~
This project is also extra special because I got to collaborate with my long time friend @kuru731! ♀️ I did layouts and inks and she made my work come to life with her colors and emotional support~ Huge thanks to the whole team at Disney-Hyperion.
was inking a comic page but the urge to sketch Alexandra Trese was too strong. everyone watch Trese on Netflix and talk to me about those cutie twins, okay??
Here’s my final piece for @andythelemon’s “Wish You Were Here!” travel zine for anime & video game locations. I chose Itomori from “Your Name” which, tbh if you’ve seen the movie, might not be the best place to travel to actually. ☄️✨
