The video shows last week’s Homework- using the Richard Schmid color chart system of mixing one color into every other color I asked the class to give 2 alts for each color harmony that results from each cross mixture. Each student did 24 frames- I think the class total thus far is close to 4K frames produced by 17 amazing students! The still shots feature a couple of weeks work collected for an upcoming ACCD display.

To introduce color mixing, I had each student use a limited palette(a different combination) for each frame, which was keyed in a certain direction for delivering specific harmonies. This class continues to exceed expectations! Keep in mind they are 2nd term students! Well done everyone!

These young artists are so impressive! Some of the students are doing 5 boards of 32, where I only asked for 2. Tonal clarity is one of the secrets for creating bold pictures. Week 1 was another 64 frames!

So I did this sketch from a pic I snapped waiting at a light in LA. I was instantly attracted to the grungy feel- trash strewn in the alley, and the perfect feeling of light with the tall old school Bldg in the BG.
