The main antagonist in the Soul Calibur series and wilder of the terrifying sword “Soul Edge”

Story time!

The very first time I played Soul Calibur I had no idea what I was playing. I was around 8 years old in a little Arcade in Guanajuato visiting some cousins and I remember just loving the boxy 3D graphics of the first installment in that arcade cabinet.

My immediate pick was this badass looking monster wielding a giant sword and clearing the entire game with it on the first go. I LOVED the fact that you could actually hit people out of the arena and win that way and would constantly run towards my opponents and tackle them to their doom. After playing for like an hour without losing, people started interrupting my game by inserting coins and forcing me to 2 player battles trying to beat me but they couldn’t, I was like a little beast while playing as Nightmare. Suddenly a local gang walked into the place and they started challenging one by one until their leader fought me and beat me on round 1, still, after an intense battle I won on round 3, and when turned around there was a huge crowd surrounding us. It was a pretty surreal experience, I felt like I was in some sort of movie hahahah

Anywho, I never knew what the game was called until years later when I was in junior high and Soul Calibur came out on the PS2, XBox and Gamecube. Link was included on the Nintendo version so it was very appealing to check that game out, and that’s when I rediscovered Nightmare and til today, SC2 remains one of my all time favorite fighting games.

With only one spot left in the Smash Ultimate roster available I really don’t think we’re getting a SC rep, but if he did, I’d be super stoked <3

Kazuya Mishima started as the main protagonist in the Tekken fighting series and would later turn into one of the main villains in the series. I don’t really know much about the serie’s lore and haven’t played much Tekken, so my knowledge on the subject is pretty limited, however, the few time I’ve played I’ve enjoyed the combat style and I’m pretty excited to see it translate into the Smash universe

During the E3 reveal I initially thought that we were getting a Dark Souls rep with the trailer being so dark hahaha but it was a pretty good twist and it’s cool to see most of the major fighting series in gaming being represented in Smash

Like I said, I don’t know much about Kazuya but I really think he’s a pretty cool looking character and the fact that he goes from being the hero to a demonic villain is pretty dope.

My first contact with the Tekken series wasn’t even on a Tekken game, but  along time ago when I played Soul Calibur 2 on the Playstation and Heihachi (Kazuya’s abusive father) appeared as the crossover invited character for that game x)
I’m pretty excited to test him out and after all these, I really have no idea who the last character will be. My bet for the last ones has been Crash but right now, I’m not so sure anymore
