So its rumoured that their going to try and make ANOTHER remake of Power Rangers as a movie. Personally i liked the 2017 movie, yeah it was silly in places and not a great adaptation of the Villain’s (Good casting but bad writing for Rita & Goldar was a let down) but i enjoyed the new versions of the rangers personalities and backstories, though the action was kind of lacking. I would have enjoyed seeing where the franchise would have gone but im also curious to see what they might make and what they would do differently if they are going to reboot it.
There are some rumours going around about casting and an LGBTQ character, but id take these with a pinch of salt as whilst it would be great if true they are highly unlikely to be.
The first rumour is that Sophia Lillis will be in it, and that she will be the lead Red Ranger. I love this idea, i really hope its true as ever since Shinkenger (power rangers samurai for anyone whose never seen the tokusatsu) where there was a red ranger as a temporary leader I’ve loved the idea and am surprised it hasn’t happened yet. I know the fighting footage for power rangers comes from Japan but in the very 1st ever series of power ranger the yellow rangers sentai counterpart was played by a dude and i never noticed, so why not pull that again?
Second rumour is that Finn Wolfhard will be in it, possibly as the Blue Ranger, and that his character will be gay. This would be good representation and a call back to the Blue rangers actor, David Yost from the original series who sadly had many bad homophobic experiences whilst filming the series. It wouldn’t take back the experiences David went through but, having that representation that a guy (or girl like in the last movie) can be gay and a superhero would definitely boost some young questioning minds self esteem/worth and shatter the illusion in young straight minds that we cant be. I know Trini was implied Lesbian in the 2017 movie but come on, lets have an actual confirmation for representation.
Like i said these are all rumours and highly unlikely to be real. If they are though it would mean they were casting actual teenagers who look like teenagers and not 20 somethings who look like body builders or glamour models which would be refreshing.
One thing i hope they consider even if none of the casting is true: Cast Darce Montgomery as a villian, even if its just his voice and especially if its Lord Zedd. It would be a great callback to have the actor playing the lead of the last movie come back as its villain. His delivery when possessed by the Mind Flayer in season three of stranger things was so chilling. imagine this coming out of a more calm, collected and sinister Zedd terrorising the rangers before exploding in a fit of rage, lightning and monster growing grenades. i wonder what a movieverse Zedd would look like…

He doesn’t know what to do with this.
When he’d walked in and found the kid asleep on his couch, drawing his weapon had been an automatic reaction. Nobody is supposed to know about this place. This is where he hides Eleven, his supernatural, persecuted daughter - this is supposed to be the place he can keep her safe.
But there was someone there, and immediately every internal warning siren that Hopper possessed was blaring in his head, and so his hand went to his belt and drew out the handgun without him thinking twice about it.
It was the way the kid was breathing. Too even, too quiet - and Hopper knew he was faking it. He pushed the gun up against the kid’s back - he hadn’t knownit was a kid then, although he can be honest enough with himself to say that it wouldn’t have changed anything if he hadknown - and demanded answers.
Keptdemanding answers. Because Hargrove wasn’t talking. Didn’t say a goddamn word.
Hopper’s no fool. He could see the kid’s brain whirring, thoughts dancing behind his eyes as he faced Hopper the best he could from his somewhat pathetic position on the floor. It’s just - Hopper thought he was trying to figure out how to lie.
THIS IS ALL @ihni’s FAULT. She had a dream about a scenario a little like this, and then we had a LONG chat about it, and then somehow this happened. Apparently we both have a huge thing for, like, hardcore Billy-angst, particularly around Billy being misunderstood by essentially nice people who don’t treat him nicely because they don’t KNOW.

Billy’s dreaming.
Neil is standing over him, face deadly white and tight with anger, hands balled into fists. Billy did something wrong. Billy always does something wrong. His dad is speaking, voice raised, but the blood is rushing in Billy’s ears and he can’t hear what he’s saying. Telling Billy all the reasons he’s fucked up, all the ways he deserves what’s about to happen. Billy can’t hear. He can’t hear.
That happens sometimes; the words blur into each other, turning into a meaningless jumble of sound that settles around Billy’s shoulders like a shroud. He’s heard it all so many times before that he doesn’t need individual sentences to stand out.
Funny how easy it is to forget plotholes when you’re holding your crush’s hand in a dark movie theatre (I wouldn’t know, personally, but Billy sure seemed to be more forgiving … :p)
