We are greatly saddened to learn of the death of Jaheim Pugh, a Black gender non-conforming 19-year-old, in Prichard, Alabama on December 13.

Jaheim is remembered by loved ones as “the life of the party,” “such a bright light,“ and “so loving.” We mourn the loss of such a young life, and will continue to work towards a world where no one has to fear violence or oppression for who they are or how they look.

Rest in peace and power, Jaheim.

Jaheim Pugh.” A photo of Jaheim is framed to the left, with light text to the right reading “We mourn the loss of our trans sibling as another victim of the epidemic of violence against trans people of color.” Light text at the bottom reads “Trans Remembrance” and “Trans Empowerment Project,” with the TEP logo in the right corner.]
