1966 Chevy II Super Sport. This girl, dressed in “Tuxedo Black”, has a 327 four barrel (Rochester or Carter?) and I’m not sure if it’s the 275 or the 350 horsepower version. Also don’t know if that’s a Muncie or a Saginaw (probably Saginaw since it’s a small block) four speed under her but she’s got a Hurst linkage. There’s a stiff positraction rearend and an AM radio; so basic but the cool-factor is way up there! If you’ve been following me (like 13,000+ have in less than 176 days since I started this Tumblr) for any time, you know that Craiger S/S rims are the only aftermarket rims I can tolerate. :-). I like my classic cars factory and this girl is a perfect 60’s specimen!

You have the noticed the comeback of the bowtie in recent years. A few years ago there was only one man that got away with wearing a bowtie and that was James Bond. But the bowtie has shaken off its nerdy image and is an accessory that needs to be part of any (fashionable) man’s wardrobe.
The bowtie comes in different sizes, shapes, colours and fabrics. When it comes to wearing the right bowtie for the right occasion it is important to keep one thing in mind: the occasion and the material. When it comes to ties it is all about the fabric and the level of patterns. The more casual the fabric looks, the more casual the outfit will look and the same goes for patterns.
Luckily for you, there are a few ancient rules when it comes to ties and if you stick to those you can’t go wrong. So here is a little guide to help you out of the woods.
Silk
A black silk bowtie is a safe option for any formal occasion. If you are wearing a black suit and you would like to add an element of colour to the outfit you could do this by picking out a colour that suits your skin type.
Patterns
A paisley pattern is suitable for most formal and business occasions. The bright colours and the beautiful material will compliment any outfit. If it is a formal party you are attending and you are bringing a plus one, than adjust the colour of your bowtie to her dress.
Plaid
The most common mistake when picking out a tie for a casual event is the choice of material. If you want to combine a bowtie with a casual outfit than keep the material of the tie very plain. Choose a tie with print or bright colours to match the shirt you are wearing. A plaid bowtie is the most common type to be used for casual events so if you want to stay on the safe side, a plaid tie in the colours of your outfit would be the one to choose.
Stripes
You usually see striped ties in the business environment. Stripes go down very well with suits and they help exude confidence and power according to many advisers on the subject. Other than that stripes make it easier to compliment an outfit without being too frivolous.
Any other
Any other material or pattern is great for a causal occasion with friends or family. Whether it is cotton, wool or spandex as long as you make sure you match the colour to your outfit it doesn’t really matter.

The other day my 29yr old Eden Toys giraffe that I gave to my daughter broke! After a failed “surgery” I was able to find a replacement on ebay- out of curiosity I searched all over for this vintage Prestige Toy Corp Dinosaur from 1990, that I’d also given her as a handme down, and couldn’t find any documentation of its existence. So I figured I’d document it myself in case anyone else was looking or curious.
The dinosaur is about 8 inches tall, as a guess, green with felt multi-color spikes. He winds up and moves slowly to the tune “London Bridge is Falling Down”. The tag states its a 1990 pf-1 copyrighted toy by Prestige Toy Corp out of New Jersey. Polyester, made in China. He has a little bow-tie, too!
He has lovingly been called Spike, I believe he is a Stegosaurus dinosaur. I probably named him after The Land Before Time.
These pictures aren’t great, we’re in the middle of a move and the weather was awful. But this should put him on theap ♂️
Since I try to limit toy consumerism, most of my daughter’s stuffed animals and toys are from my childhood. It’s so sweet to see her attach meaning to all of the critters I loved growing up
