I just don’t think gazing into each other’s eyes and holding each other tenderly is inherently romantic
that post with the 3rd grader wanting to show off their little brother to their teacher and the teacher being like “if he wants to be shown, sure!” and the 3rd grader saying “he’s one year old he doesn’t have opinions”
makes me really crave some kid thor proudly carrying around his bb brother to show off to everyone
and like. little thor being super into being a big brother now! and being super protective of tiny bb loki! but also kinda not really seeing him as a whole person separate from thor himself, in that naturally self-centered little-kid way.
just. their issues are deeply rooted. and adorable.
This idea was so adorable that I had to play with it a little. Rough draft, don’t judge me lmao.
Thor has just barely let go of Loki when Loki, once again, topples to the floor. His tiny legs are too wobbly beneath him, and Thor stamps his own foot in frustration.
“Loki,” he scolds, “you’re not even trying.”
In response, Loki sputters. Tiny little spit bubbles gather at his lips, which make him giggle, and Thor shakes his head as if to say, children.
“Let’s try again,” Thor says. He slides his palms underneath Loki’s arms and pulls Loki to his feet. For such a tiny looking baby, Loki sure does weigh a lot. Thor is convinced that most of the weight is in Loki’s large head, which has never seemed quite proportionate to the rest of his spindly body. That big head is probably why he cannot keep his balance for more than two seconds.
“Okay, now, when I let go, you’re going to move one foot like this.” Thor grabs one of Loki’s bare feet and pushes it forward against the floor. “And then the other like this.” He does the same with the second foot, repeating the motions until they’ve made it a relatively short distance across the room.
“It’s all in the balance,” Thor goes on. “You have to learn this, Loki. You don’t want to be a baby crawling around forever, right? You should have been walking months ago!“
“Thor,” his mother scolds, making Thor look up. He hadn’t even noticed her entering the room, so engrossed was he with his baby brother. “You’re not being too rough with Loki, are you?”
Thor lets go of Loki, who balances for a split second and then tumbles again. He’s no worse for the wear, so Thor grins at Frigga. “No, mama. We’re just playing. Loki’s having fun.” Walking is serious business, but Thor is saving Loki’s progress as a surprise for their parents. Once Loki gets the hang of balancing on his own two feet, his parents will be so surprised and pleased that they will permit Thor to bring Loki out of the nursery rooms with him when Thor goes out to play.
What fun they’ll have once Loki is allowed to play with Thor and his friends! Thor thinks the sun rises and sets on Loki, of course; if he could, he’d spend all day, every day taking care of his brother, whether they had to stay in the nursery rooms or not.
But his friends have grown bored with the baby. Fandral in particular has complained that all Thor ever wants to do is sit around and play with “that drooling sack of potatoes,” which Thor hadn’t liked one bit. Sif had said Fandral had a point, though, and so Thor’s mission had become making Loki not a sack of potatoes.
But Loki has to walk to accomplish that. Thor beams a sunny smile up at Frigga, and Loki spits some more bubbles, which seems to satisfy her.
“Just be careful,” she said, reaching down and ruffling Thor’s blonde hair. “He’s not a toy."
"I will,” Thor promises. He keeps smiling at her until she disappears. Then he focuses on Loki again - Loki, who had gotten distracted by his own feet and is hunched over, attempting to pull his toes into his mouth.
“Loki!” Thor swatted at Loki’s feet. “Come on, let’s try this again. Now, remember, one foot at a time, and balance…”

I read a bunch of Lang Leav poems the other day and there’s so many Thorki-feels ones, so I made one (1) gif using Dark Rooms, bc it felt - to me - like Loki pleading with Thor, from beyond the grave, to not forget him and, idk, I just had feels.
