Carlos grinned. “And we don’t have to bathe the kids afterwards,” he joked. “At least, not anymore than we normally do. Soot gets everywhere.”
Carlos cut into his mozzarella ball-shaped pizza (topped with a dusting of Parmesan and leaves of cilantro stood upright in a mock-wintery scene) and ate with a happy hum and too-loud smacking of his mouth.
“Mmm… greasy.”
Zora couldn’t help but laugh in response to Carlos’ comment. “I’m sure that has to be quite the relief. I can’t imagine trying to clean soot off of a child.“ The imagery is already pretty telling of how difficult a task that would be.
They dug into their own ball-shaped pizza, relishing the theme and dedication of the toppings selected for it. Taking a few bites, they nodded in approval.
“Oh yeah. Just enough grease but has other flavors to really make it satisfying. Good stuff.“
“It can be done, but it’s tedious,” Carlos confirmed. He then muttered, “Especially when she gets it all in the tires and nooks of her wheels…” Cleaning mobility devices were a pain. At least Steve was up to the job; he was such a good dad.
He took another bite of his food with a hum.
“Do you have any other plans for the holidays?” he asked curiously, eyes still on his plate.
“No its fine.” He says quietly. “I just need to be more patient about things.”
Drake smiles slowly as Carlos goes off. “And no… I like it when you talk… its endeering. Believe me.”
Carlos felt some doubt; Drake was upset, so he wasn’t exactly ‘fine’… but Carlos decided to keep it to himself.
“Yeah… I just don’t want you thinking that I’m making excuses,” Carlos admitted. “I literally just… forget… stuff like that. Not on purpose or anything, I’m just… really out of practice. But I do care about you. A lot.” He gently scratched the down feathers in Drake’s cheek. “I want you to know that… I mean, I wouldn’t be here with you like this if I didn’t like you the same way that you do.”
So…some days ago I had a bit of social life with @stemartand@giadin-a and we watched Descandants because….of reasons….but the incredible was that we actually LOVED it so here is a little art-trade done that night…
