Hi all, it’s been a while! Two years, actually, since I’ve posted anything. I’ll spare you the details of why my relationship with astrology changed (perhaps another post sometime) but since I’m no longer going to be doing anything professionally with astrology, I figured I’d pass along my best tricks to y’all. You can skip to the end if you’d like to see my hand little cheat sheet rather than read all my explanations if you like. 

Here we go. 

Take this scenario:

You start off by reading about your sun sign. So far, things seem pretty accurate. This astrology stuff seems pretty cool, so you dig a little deeper and perhaps discover your rising sign or moon sign. You look up as much info about your sun, moon, and rising as you can find. Perhaps there are pre-made interpretations for having a certain sun and moon together, perhaps even with your rising sign. So far, it seems like all your astrological questions can be answered by a google search. 
As you get deeper, however, you start seeing things like your house placements and other planetary influences. You are likely able to find what all these influences mean individually, but suddenly, there aren’t any interpretations for having your Moon in the 4th House in Cancer squaring your Sun in the 7th House in Libra while your Pluto in the 5th house in Leo forms a semisextile to your Uranus in the 6th House in Virgo. 
Howdo astrologers add all these things up? And how did they make those interpretations you found on the web, anyways?

Astrology has a very definite grammar that’s relatively easy to learn once you know what it is. Most astrologers learn this sort of intuitively over time, but I’ll break it down for you. 

PLANETS act as our VERBS. Planets are WHAT ACTION we are doing. 

SIGNS act as our ADVERBS. They tell us HOW we do what we do. 

Say you have a Sun in Aries. To be honest, that really doesn’t tell an astrologer much. All you have is a verb and an adverb. We know that in something that you do, you’re a pioneer of some sort and have found a niche. But without the rest of the parts of the sentence, it’s just a fragment. That brings us to…

HOUSES act as our NOUNS. They tell us WHAT PART of us is doing the action. Note, houses also include our rising sign. More on this later. 

Someone with a Sun in Aries will exhibit ONE PART of them where they are very determined. The House determines which part. A Sun in Aries in the 10th House is likely to have original entrepreneurial ideas and be a real type A personality, while someone with a Sun in Aries in the 4th House is more likely to be a mama-bear type. 
But how does this interact with the rest of the chart? Those two examples I just gave, despite having 3 layers to the interpretation, are still watered-down, cookie-cutter descriptions at best. To know what state our Noun, Verb, and Adverb, are in, we need…

ASPECTSact as our ADJECTIVES. There’s a sort of mathy reason for this, as things can only be described by their relative placement to each other, but all you really need to know is that aspects tell you whether two NOUNS interact in ways that support each other or not. 

Once you get a feel for how each sign operates, what each planet does, what each house is, and how each aspect interacts, you can read a chart with combinations you’ve never seen and make your OWN interpretations of what they mean.

I’m gonna give you a quick overview of what I’m going to analyze about your natal chart. feel free to ask me anything if something isn’t clear, of course. you’ll find out your dominants’ influence on your persona, your physical appearance, impression on others and the way you approach the world; your ego, identity, the real you; your reactions, your desires, inner emotions; your way of expressing your feelings, your mind and ideas; your desires and approach to love; your energy tank, instincts and temperament; in-depth analysis of each house with their rulers and analysis of heavy aspects; love life + soulmates/karmic partners interpretation; your relationship with your friends; your family life; your approach to career and work in general + possible jobs suggestion; your style, fashion sense analysis; life purpose and past life description; basic transits’ analysis to describe your current mood and, last but not least, your secret skills, how to make the most out of your soul and manifest what you desire based on your birth chart.

chart shape, dominants

yourchart is a bowl shape. all of your planets are focused in half of the chart. this usually makes the owner of the chart feel uncompleted, as if a part of their life is missing. in your case, it would be something regarding your love life, your relationships with other. you may look for this missing part of yourself in yourself, or maybe in your friends, or even in stuff like work, passions etc. this may cause you to be too dependant of others, or maybe you become obsessed and overindulge in what makes you feel complete.

yourdominant planets are pluto, the sun and mercury. you’re an extremely deep person, with strong morals and beliefs. you’re quite spiritual, you’re very in touch with your higher self and higher entities in general. you’re also full of vitality, and thanks to your intellect you’re very charismatic. yet, you may be a bit too pessimistic.

yourdominant sign is sagittarius. you have an amazing sense of humor, your personality is so bubbly that it naturally draws people towards you. you’re also extremely open-minded, you rarely have prejudices. you have a knack for spirituality, religion, philosophy… anything that can stimulate you mentally.

yourdominant element is fire. you have a warm heart, even though it may be covered by your confidence and indipendence. in fact, you always strive for the first place. people may be intimidated by your presence, as you’re a serious competitor. thanks to this competitive nature of yours you may be very positive and optimistic, making you a good and supportive friend/partner.

ascendant in scorpio, 20° / 3rd decan ruled by pluto and the moon

physically, I imagine you’re at least of average height. since the 3rd decan is ruled by the moon, you could have softer features than common scorpios; e.g. instead of having a square face, you might have a softer chin. your eyes are extremely magnetic, and they could also be quite big and/or round. you might have either very pale skin, or just an olive skintone. sometimes, even a mix of both. your hair, eyebrows and lashes are very thick and dark too. there’s also something big about your appearance that stands out; you may have wider hips, shoulders, forehead, lips… also very striking facial features, like cheekbones or nose. you surely are very intelligent, and you can read people like a book; you can sense others’ emotions very well, they have no secrets for you. while this is good, as you understand who’s best for you, scorpio risings tend to be a little manipulative. this awareness of the world makes you look mysterious and secretive, as if you always know something more than others (and you probably do). pluto is also the planet of transformation, and you might experience a lot of rebirths throughout your life, both physically and emotionally. you might lose/have lost a big amount of weight, for example, which makes you look like a different person. or maybe, you like dying your hair of a different colour, giving you a different vibe. you have an accentuated thirst for knowledge of your passions, especially since you’re a jupiter dominant, and you give all of yourself to express your individuality. you strive to be the best at everything you do, you like people looking up to you and seeing you as a point of reference. you have a pessimistic view of the world, you see it as a place filled with secrets and malice. that’s why you have so many trust issues. you wish you could be softer and show your inner emotions more easily, as scorpio is a water sign. the thing is, since it’s a fixed sign, it’s hard for you to be flexible and adapt to changes. when they happen, they’re usually out of your control as they’re literally life-changing. to sum up, your scorpio rising makes you highly intelligent, creative and passionate, but you have a hard time seeing the best qualities in people. you tend to only see their flaws, and isolate yourself to avoid problems.

sun in sagittarius, 7° / 1st decan ruled by jupiter

in life, you strive for freedom and independency. you are an extremely wise person, and you believe strongly in your beliefs. you rarely change your mind, but most of the time you’re an open-minded person. you love learning about anything, and you may also have a good memory. in fact, it’s common for you to be the one who explains things and possibly even leads a group, and this could unluckily make you seem as a know-it-all. you do take pride in your wisdom, indeed. your deep way of thinking is also where your desire for freedom comes from, as you wish to be able to expand yourself through travelling and new experiences. you may also be attracted to foreign things, such as foreign literature, fashion, art, music etc. it’s another way to travel and open your mind, without actually having to leave your house when you’re busy. when you get angry, you can actually get very rude and offensive, even towards authorities. you’re short-tempered, and you despise being told what to do. you’re also a good, loyal friend, and you’re the type to stand up for them and defend them during a fight. you’re very outgoing, especially with people you feel comfortable with, and you probably love talking. you’re able to put a smile on others’ face just by telling your stories, even though you never truly go in-depth. in fact, you have a shy side to you that makes you more secretive, regardless of your friendliness.

sagittarius sun conjunct sagittarius mercury: you express your ego and identity through your words and ideas. you’re very opinionated and you protect strongly your beliefs. after all, you probably came up with your ideals after thinking deeply about them, you were too precise to be wrong. you’re also probably an avid reader, and you could do well in writing yourself, as you’re able to properly convey your ideals with your words. also, your heavy sagittarius dominance makes you naturally good at writing poetry, or even philosophical quotes. your mind is very active, and you feel comfortable letting all your thoughts out. it’s actually a way to relieve stress. you also have a wide vocabulary, and you’re capable of making a formal speech if you have to. you have a memorable way of speaking, as your words are very sharp. it’s hard for you to be ignored for your intellect.

sagittarius sun conjunct sagittarius venus: you enjoy peace and harmony. you want your surroundings to look all neat and clean, and the same goes for the people you surround yourself with. you wish people saw you as easy to approach, even though you may struggle with your image. you try to be as formal and diplomatic as possible with people you don’t know well, unless they start getting on your nerves by disagreeing with your opinions or being too bossy. you’re very feminine, not only in your looks and manners but also in the way you dress. you’re quite romantic too, and dream of having a perfect marriage. the downside to this aspect is that because you take so much care of yourself, people may mistake your self-love for vanity and shallowness, especially with your intimidating scorpio rising. also, your self-esteem may depend too much on others’ opinion on you; you may start thinking you’re ugly and unworthy of love just because someone told you you’re not their type, to sum up.

moon in aries, 8° / 1st decan ruled by mars

you aim for greatness. this is where your strong desire to be the #1 comes from, pretty much. you’re very proud of yourself, and you don’t like to acknowledge your mistakes. you always want to look like you have your life together, even in certain moments when you feel lost. I would say that this is a sort of self-sabotaging mechanism, as you can literally go as far as forcing a smile if it shows the world that you can stand by yourself. overall, I would say you deal with your emotions in a very ‘child-like’ way; after all, aries is pretty self-centered. you tend to preserve yourself more, unless someone really special to you is involved. in fact, aries moon makes you really protective of your loved and trusted ones, even though they’re not many because of your high standards. you’re constantly seeking validation from these people, and might actually be the only ones you listen to. you’re quite impulsive and aggressive too, verbally and maybe even physically sometimes. you might actually find comfort in venting your anger and afflictions by punching something, for example. or maybe you’re the type to argue with anyone, even if they’re not the reason of your bad mood. you’re likely to feel restricted to express your feelings freely, for different reasons. after all, the nature of your moon is fiery. you want to lead and be admired, you can’t allow yourself to be seen as “weak”. it would be humiliating for you.

aries moon opposite libra mars: this placement pretty much confirms what I’ve said above: your feelings are very intense. you may tend to react aggressively, or at least overreact. you feel the constant need to express your emotions, but you also want to be understood by others. you tend to be aggressive because you’re actually afraid that others may be the first ones to hurt you. you don’t really do it with malice, it’s your way to defend yourself from eventual enemies. this placement also indicates that your childhood/family life was kind of turbulent. to solve this problem, I’d suggest you to be a little bit more mechanic when you express your feelings, even though it may be harder than usual for you as you don’t have any earth placements in your chart. you don’t have to hide them, just try not to vent all your anger around. you don’t seem strong, you’re just exposing your weaknesses in this way.

mercury in sagittarius, 12° / 2nd decan ruled by jupiter and mars

you say things impulsively, you’re bluntly honest, and this could often hurt people around you. in addition, you like having the last word, despite being proven wrong sometimes. you have a knack for wisdom, you love being and looking smart. you’re the type to spend the whole day reading and analyzing philosophical quotes and then make them your own, applying them to your life. you want to be and feel experienced, hence you may inform yourself about a variety of topics just for the sake of knowing them, perhaps you’re not even that much interested in them. you could go from talking about politics to astrology, your mind is quite messy but still very full. you may possibly have a youthful voice, and sometimes you can speak in a loud volume without even realizing it. you may also exaggerate your words a lot, for example you might have got a single scratch on your cheek and call it a gash. you could possibly also be the type to joke over your own feelings, and then obviously get mad at others when they do the same with you. your mercury is also retrograde, hence you’re not much talkative, you’re more on the introspective side. you may have troubles communicating your thoughts clearly, or maybe you’re the one who may misunderstand/mishear what others say to you.

sagittarius mercury conjunct sagittarius venus: this placement gives you great social skills, even though you may have a hard time embracing them due to your scorpio rising. you’re insecure that your thoughts and ideas may be judged negatively by others, hence you just bottle them up with your feelings. this aspect is mostly positive, though! you’re probably a good singer, or at least you have a very calm tone of voice that is pleasant to hear. you’re able to see both sides of an argument, hence you may be good at helping people making up. you could actually be suited for psychology! you may also earn money through your voice and thoughts, so you could be a writer, a journalist, an actor, a singer etc. this placement assures that you may be sociable, or at least that you have great social skills that manifest more in your home environment, or just someone you’re close to in general.

sagittarius mercury square pisces jupiter: with this aspect, you may have troubles being consistent with your ideas. you may overestimate your needs and thoughts; for example, you may promise yourself to get all As in maths, then you get tired and bored and you end up getting Cs. same goes for your handwriting, for example: you may start writing in the best way possible, then you get lazy and end up writing in a sloppy way just to take notes. you also overthink a lot, and that causes you self-esteem issues. on the other hand, you’re very open-minded and objective, as you look at the big picture. you’d do very well as a journalist, for example, or perhaps also as a judge of any kind. you may also be naturally skilled at foreign languages, you can mimic accents pretty well. you’re probably also very poetic and / or wise, you’re like a teacher for your friends.

sagittarius mercury conjunct sagittarius pluto: you have a witty sense of humor, you most likely speak fluent sarcasm. this placement confirms that you could sometimes be quite harsh with your words. you’re very persuasive, you’re able to get whatever you want thanks to your speech. it’s like you have this innate talent of understanding anyone’s weak points. people can’t lie to you, you’d expose them right away. you’re constantly looking for the truth in the world, it’s hard for you to get tricked. this placement also makes you extremely spiritual; you may have psychic abilities, and you may often find yourself speaking to ghosts, spirits etc. you may also be able to read birth charts, tarots, do spells etc. also, you have the two mercurian signs, gemini and virgo, in your 8th and 10th house. they’re both money, career houses, so I’d definitely recommend you to include some of these matters in your career, or even just any taboo, controversial topic in general.

❤️venus in sagittarius, 14° / 2nd decan ruled by jupiter and mars

people may consider you flaky, as you value freedom above all. you may be the type that likes making new experiences regarding love, and you often date your crushes. yet, you feel too limited in a relationship. you don’t enjoy committing to someone if that someone isn’t perfect for you, you’re only completely loyal to the one you consider your true love. you can’t give up your freedom, your thirst for adventure and experiences for someone else. basically, your ideal partner would be a risk-taker, someone loyal but not too clingy, that is down to go on a road trip in every moment. someone impulsive, that could help you stepping out of your comfort-zone. you’re probably into those youthful love stereotypes, e.g. high school dates. you want your relationships to be filled with excitement, you despise boring, traditional and cheesy things. you may also find yourself being attracted to unavailable people; that is, you could fall for people that are already taken, or maybe they’re physically unavailable, e.g they live abroad or in another city in general. you’re also attracted to foreigners, and people that have a wise, yet bubbly aura around them.

sagittarius venus square pisces jupiter: you come off as a very positive, happy-go-lucky person. you’re extremely friendly, and this makes you be good at social relationships. you may have lots of friends, or at least you have the potential to make many if you opened up and talked to them. yet, while this energy gives you positive vibes, some people may take advantage of that, as you could easily be mistaken for naive. people can try to dominate you unconsciously (sometimes even on purpose) not only in relationships but even in friendships. you may have the tendency to procrastinate and not work. you could be quite lazy and get easily distracted, as you’re constantly with your head in the clouds.

sagittarius venus conjunct sagittarius pluto: love is very important in your life, even though you may not realize it at first. loving someone could possibly make you come across challenges, but that will only help you to become a stronger, more mature individual. you love intensely, you’re most probably kind of possessive of your partners, yet you don’t want your partner to be jealous of you. it’s quite inconsistent, but you can’t control it. you may often date karmic partners, that is people from your past lives that are here to teach you a few lessons, most probably regarding marriage or self-love. in fact, it may not be uncommon to fall for someone and viceversa; there’s instant attraction, it may even seem like a soulmate meeting. again, with low self-esteem, this placement could possibly make you a martyr. most of the times, you don’t realize it when someone is hurting you. you endure relationships that are obviously bad for your mental or even physical health. you could attract overpossessive, abusive partners that are a serious threat to your vitality. possibly, you may even find yourself hanging around people who do drugs and have some sort of addiction. or perhaps, they could become addicted to you. with this placement is vital to learn how to love yourself. you need to be careful and stand up for yourself, or your love relationships may not be very smooth.

☄️mars in libra, 1° / 1st decan ruled by venus

there’s this stereotype that libra mars people are passive-aggressive. it may be true, but only partially. in fact, you try to avoid conflicts exclusively when you’re in public, or maybe with someone you don’t know well. in that case, you can eventually try to avoid the problem. with people you’re close to, you’re pretty much the opposite. you may say the worst of things that you probably don’t even feel, you may even have the istinct to throw hands. you’re driven by a strong sense of justice, and you probably were the class’ snitch during daycare/primary school. you also strive for equality, hence you may get very defensive when it comes to proving your innocence, or just really anyone’s. overall, you’re a fair person with strong morals, who acts based on the situation you’re in.

houses, interceptions

your1st house is in scorpio. you fulfill your ego when you deal with intense situations that satify your needs. that is, you find strenght in getting out of your comfort-zone. even though you may be afraid of it. you’re an enigma: you know everything about others, but others know nothing about you. it’s your way to protect yourself from eventual enemies, as you’re prone to have a few of them throughout your life. the sun and mercury are also here: you’re an individual full of vitality, even though it may be hidden by your scorpio ascendant. you have a strong and independent mind, and you tend to use logic over emotions. the ruler of the 1st is in the 1st house: your life for sure isn’t boring; there are many big, overwhelming events that are hard to forget, and that can literally change your life. your relationship with your appearance isn’t that stable; most likely, during your early years you lacked confidence. yet, this is something that you’ll be able to solve as you grow up. in addition, you literally have venus, the planet of beauty, in your 1st house. it’s natural for you to feel a bit insecure, but you shouldn’t be; this placement indicates that you’re very attractive, especially to others, even though it may not be conventionally.

your2nd house is in sagittarius. you tend to overindulge in 2nd house matters, hence you may spend too much money, you could overeat, or even overestimate your own skills. maybe, you’re too confident, or perhaps it’s the opposite. that is, you underestimate your worth way too much. since you spend so much, you may find yourself lacking money from time to time, therefore be careful to how you spend them. the ruler of the 2nd house is in the 4th house: you may come from a wealthy family; they could be musicians, or at least very artistic. they may also have to do with cooking, or perhaps your parents work in a bank or in any place that is generally associated with money. they may influence a lot the way you dress or even your self-esteem. you may also make money helping other people, or maybe dealing with physical houses. you might’ve also been sort of spoiled during your childhood.

your3rd house is intercepted in the sign of aquarius, with the cusp falling in capricorn. uranus and neptune are also intercepted. this interception usually brings issues with 3rd house matters: speech, early education, mind, siblings… perhaps, you started speaking later than other kids, or maybe you didn’t put much effort in school. that’s caused by the fact that you may feel different from others. for example, it could be that while others make friends easily, you struggle a little bit more to trust others. it may even be that your parents didn’t exactly teach you why school is important, or how to behave with your siblings, or again how to speak correctly. with neptune and uranus intercepted, combined with your chiron in the 1st house, I feel you may often go through identity crisis. in fact, there’s an hidden part of yourself that you can’t seem to get out, a repressed part of your personality that makes you unique. since the ruler of the 3rd house is in the 5th house, the way to cope with this interception is creativity; have fun, hang out with your friends, date people… interacting with others and connecting to the creative side of your brain will naturally stimulate you, and you’ll feel more serene.

your4th house is in pisces. you weren’t in total control of your life during your childhood. your parents probably were too much of an influence to you, and repressed your own way of thinking, in an attempt to protect you from negative things. your childhood was quite peaceful, though. you probably have tons of nice memories with your family. when you’re with someone you’re comfortable with, you let all your dreams and softness out. when you’re alone you’re pretty quiet, and you tend to relax through artsy hobbies. the ruler of the 4th house, neptune, is placed in the 3rd house. your parents influenced your early education a lot, together with your ideals and opinions. you most likely have siblings, and they play an important role in your life. you may also find yourself thinking and talking about your childhood or just the past in general.

your5th house is ruled by aries. you find confidence in your creativity, and you have the desire to express it to the world. I think you’re probably the type to organize and arrange all the meetings and parties with your friends, you’re practically the leader of your friend group. I suppose that, with saturn sitting there you’re more of a homebody, though… you may feel limitated to fully have fun and relax due to your responsibilities; school, work etc. this is something that will naturally get better with time, even though you may come across a few hiccups regarding these matters. also, the moon here indicates that to feel comfortable and at ease with yourself and your emotions you actually need to let out your ideas. the ruler of the 5th house is in the 10th house; you could make money out of your creativity, and you could also be lucky at the lottery, gambling etc. also, you may as well date partners from your workplace, or that will boost your popularity. you could also work with children.

your6th house is in aries again. you work hard to be the number #1 in what you care about, especially if your goals involve school, work, health etc. your days are usually quite busy, and you tend to overwork yourself. with the ruler of the 6th being in the 10th, your daily routine involves your career life, it’s what you care about the most. you may include 6th house matters in your career: health, food, exercise, healing… you could work with pets, hence as a vet or a groomer, as a personal trainer, as a nutritionist… anything that helps people feel better, even a therapist or a nurse for example.

your7th house is in taurus. in marriage you seek security, both emotional and financial. you want a loyal partner that would never do anything to hurt you, and that has a wealthy job as well. intimacy and trust also matter a lot for you in a long-term relationship. your future partner will surely be like that, but you may unluckily attract possessive, jealous people, so beware of that. it may be a problem, especially considering your heavy sagittarius energy that wants to be free. with the ruler of the 7th in the 1st, you may date someone that looks good on your side. they may be someone important with great presence, and they could help you increase your self-esteem. they may actually resemble you, you could have similiar physical features

your8th house is in gemini. you may frequently find yourself thinking, talking and studying occult/taboo topics, such as paranormal events, thrillers, tarots, astrology etc. you’re interested in finding out the truth, not only among your peers but in the whole world. you have a desire that all the malice that is hiding behind the government etc. gets exposed, even though you may be so interested in them that you could get used to it and end up overlooking them. the ruler of the 8th house is in the 1st house: this enhances your scorpio rising even more. you appear as a mysterious person, and you tend to make your attraction for occult topics public.

your9th house is intercepted in the sign of leo, with the cusp falling in cancer. your heavy sagittarius energy wants freedom. yet, with this interception, you may struggle to achieve it. for example, you may dream of travelling a lot, possibly even living abroad. yet, you may feel limitated to do so. you could end up pursuing a career that doesn’t completely satisfy you, perhaps you may work in an office and not with your creativity. since the cusp falls in cancer, and the ruler of this house is also in the 4th house, I’d suggest you to follow your family’s advice. they know what’s best for you, and they will help you deal with this interception. you may also take in consideration the dream career of your childhood.

your10th house is in virgo. you might be seen by strangers as a caretaker, someone extremely organized who has their life together, but that also doesn’t hesitate to take care of their physical appearance. your ultimate job would have to be some sort of healing career, you want to give and teach something through your work. mars is also here; your career is where you put most of your energy. you’re driven by a strong sense of duty, and your career is also able to increase your confidence. you want to be a leader and create a name for yourself. with the ruler of the 10th house in the 1st house, your career may play a crucial role in your life. you’ll finally be able to find out what you really want in this lifetime thanks to it. you may also have to interact with the world, or perhaps you work with your image (e.g you could become a model). yet, I feel like you’d rather be involved in more private jobs.

your11th house is in libra. you enjoy getting to know new people, maybe you have to do it because your job requires that. but just because you need to communicate with other people, it doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re your friends. basically, you’re the type that knows a lot of persons, but you may always feel lonely. that’s because your bond with them is kind of shallow, they’re not someone too intimate with you. hence, you feel as if you can never share your feelings with anyone. the ruler of the 11th house is in the 1st house: your friends may also help you find out who you are and what you want in the world. they’re probably very good looking, perhaps even a bit more extroverted than you. you could also work with them, or you may meet your true friends at your workplace or through your career in general.

SOLAR RETURN CHART NOTES

• I note that although it’s possible to read the solar return chart alone, it’s extremely important to study the SR in comparison to the natal, first to delimit the possible influences (because if you just look at the solar return chart alone, you will have many aspects, then it will be confusing); second, because influences tend to materialize in relation to our natal personality.
• The isolated solar return chart can be used to see positions such as the Ascendant, the house cusps.

But if you want to know the placements of the planets in the houses, you should look at the Solar Return chart + Natal chart.

I’ll show you this (using astro.com)

• In the image we can see three options for solar return:

1) Solar Return Chart

2) Natal + Solar Return chart

3) Natal + Solar Return chart, with houses

• What I mean is that it is much more interesting to use options 2) or 3), because they tend to show the interaction between the natal chart and the solar return, which even makes more sense because we want to know how our natal personality will be affected during the year, right? How we will be put to the test during the year.

To see planets in the houses, it is good to choose option 3) Natal + Solar Return chart, with houses. I chose and this is the chart that appears:

• We can see that the person will have Mercury, Venus, Sun and Pluto impacting the natal 8th house - that is, here we have a stellium in the 8th house, Saturn and Jupiter impacting the natal 9th ​​house, among other things. This person’s Ascendant will be in Aries, and all the positions of the cusps can also be seen through this chart.

• The same goes for the aspects: it is more interesting to look at the aspects formed between the planets in the SOLAR RETURN CHART and the NATAL CHART. And not of the planets of the solar return chart alone, among themselves. This may not be very helpful in terms of understanding the manifestation of the year.

To see the aspects between the Natal chart + Solar Return chart, I selected option 2) on astro.com. I selected “additional tables” and opened a PDF. On the last page of it I find the table of aspects.

• In this table, for example, I can see an exact aspect between the two Saturns. Saturn (solar) sextile Saturn (natal). I also see solar Venus conjunct natal Mercury, in addition to other aspects.

• Remember: orbit is very important. Aspects with an orbit higher than 3 are not considered for the purpose of influencing the year. If an aspect is at 0°, it is exact. If it’s 1st, 2nd, 3rd degrees, we can still consider it. But aspects with very large orbits (4°, 5°) are not so relevant at the moment.

• Examples: natal Mercury square solar ASC (0°47s - exact aspect, we consider it);solar Neptune conj natal Neptune (Aspect of 4°25s). We do not consider it.

• Paty, is there another way to see this interaction between the Solar Return chart and the Natal chart? Astro.com is kind of difficult for me. Yes, there is! astro-seek.com can help with this. Click here and enter your birth data.

Example of how to visualize everything I said on astro-seek (taking another person as an example):

This chart shows the Solar Return placements in orange, and the natal placements in gray. We can see this person’s Ascendant in the Solar Return chart, which will be in Capricorn.

• Further down is the interesting part about the SR planets in natal houses and the aspects between the two charts (in green). Note that this site only shows aspects with an orbit smaller than 3 degrees, it already does the work of selecting those that are most relevant. And the exact aspects, which tend to be the strongest, are in gray.

• We can see that, regarding the houses, this person will be with the 10th house (Midheaven) very activated (Sun, Mercury, Venus and Neptune in 10th house). It will also have a lot of influence in the 9th house. To understand the meaning of planets in the houses, you can search in my blog, I wrote some here on tumblr.

• Sun conj Sun aspect will always appear at 0°00’ in SR charts, as it is exactly the Sun’s return to its natal position. therefore, the Sun of that year is conjunct (united) to the same degree as the Sun of the natal chart.
