Congratulations to China’s power couple Angelababy and Huang Xiaoming who recently got married. The couple have been dating since 2009 after meeting each other for the first time at a Karaoke party. Angelababy dreamed since childhood of getting married in a castle. Her dream finally became reality taking form into this absolutely beautiful fairytale wedding held at Shanghai Exhibition Center. Also she truly looks like a real princess in her crown and elegant wedding dress. We wish them a lifetime of happiness together!

Two brides exchanging bouquets for luck after meeting on the road to their respective weddings

The folk-custom of 压床 (yāchuáng; “bed pressing”).

This is a wedding practice where the bride’s side will have two older women make the bed and then the groom’s side will traditionally have the groom and a younger brother (or younger male relative; must be younger and unmarried) go to sleep on the wedding bed the night before the wedding.

Nowadays, it’s often just rolling around on the bed, and female relatives may also participate (particularly, for example, if the new couple wants to have a daughter).

The purpose of this custom is to generally bring luck to the newly weds, particularly in conceiving children.
