Good morning Friday! Hello Hot Rum Cow – Issue 10 – The Time Machine Issue. Hot Rum Cow is a UK drinks magazine, and labour of love, created by White Light Media. Its aim is to celebrate the wonderful world of drinks by exploring the stories and people behind them. Issue 10 of Hot Rum Cow has driven our ragged rabble of seekers and suppers to the farthest reaches yet. Our pursuit of the origins of good drinking has taken us back in time. Join us as we plunge headlong into the Hot Rum Time Machine and bear witness at the birth of all that is good in booze. Emerging from the vortex you will learn: How we can thank monks for everything from hoppy beers, to drinkable wine and macerated magic in a glass; the perils and pitfalls of re-creating your own 600-year-old ale; how to lay on the drink-soaked medieval banquet your castle deserves; the 2,000 year history of Pulque, Mexico’s ultimate rebel drink; how defying the devil and wooing women gave rise to the toasts of today; the rules of Ancient Greek beer pong and Tang dynasty spin-the-bottle. Bringing it back to the future we have Dan Aykroyd and Boris Yeltsin, gallons of mead and perry, a lesson in sabrage, coffee cocktails, the world’s largest glass of beer and the good and bad in drinks advertising. Now available in our online shop!

Good morning Tuesday! Hello Brownbook Magazine – Issue 56 (The Snow Issue). Brownbook is the essential guide to the contemporary Middle East and North Africa. This issue of Brownbook is an ode to such snowy landscapes. The Middle East’s lesser-known sibling of sea and sand, the region may not be immediately associated with snowflakes but snowfall can be found annually across the mountain ranges of Morocco, Lebanon, Turkey and Iran, and even in Saudi Arabia. And here, this ‘silence of snow’ produces its own special culture, entwined in the flurries of wintry life, spent busy by hitting the slopes or kept warm with late-night salep and spiced ginger coffee. Now available in our online shop!

Good morning Monday! Hello Oak - The Nordic Journal – Volume 5. Oak – the Nordic Journal is a biannual magazine with an international reach that covers Nordic food, design, craftsmanship and lifestyle – and the people who create it. In the fifth issue of OAK, The Love Issue, they invite you to delve into the magazine’s first hardback edition, celebrating inspiring people of the Nordic regions, design, ideas and great escapes. Amongst this issue’s many interesting profiles, you will meet the cover stars, singer Oh Land and her artist partner in life and love, Eske Kath, who talk about seeing eye to eye creatively and unplugging from a hectic everyday life in New York to become parents. Unplugging is also something songstress Emma Acs knows a thing or two about after having overcome depression early on in her musical career, while chef Claus Meyer is simply out to change the world with his latest culinary endeavours in New York, nothing less. You can read the extensive interviews with both in The Love Issue, as well as dream away to the apple festival of Lilleø Island, become acquainted with the Danes’ unyielding love of their iron horses (bikes, that is), and dive into The Wadden Sea’s blue mysteries – one of the richest ecosystems in the world with a biologic productivity equal to that of the Amazon. Ultimately, OAK volume five really is all about love: Love of the crafts, the transformation of textiles and raw materials into wondrous design of tomorrow. Love of the people who make the magic, and love of this Northern part of the world we call home, with its summer scents of apple blossoms, pines and salty seawater filling the air. And naturally – lest anyone forget – love of print. Now available in our store!

Good morning Tuesday! Hello EyeEm Magazine – Volume 3 (By Women). Simply put: EyeEm By Women celebrates women in the arts. In so much media, and in so many magazines, it feels like real life is missing something, or someone. Although you can definitely feel a tide coming, change is a work in progress, and – while we don’t like to play favourites – we felt it was time for something that belonged to the girls, especially since 52 per cent of EyeEm photographers are female. What we offer you here is over 40 photographers – aged 15 to 51, largely undiscovered and unseen – sharing real portrayals of women in this world – no studios, no spotlights, and definitely no retouching. Our aim was not to simply show the diversity of the female experience – which in itself is obvious – but rather the idea that there aren’t enough spaces for women to showcase their work in a signature way, not on gallery walls nor in magazine pages. Now available in our store!
