#Shikigami
Wanyudo - Ronin. Whether by choice, circumstance, or disgrace, a Samurai can lose their master and turn Ronin. Though masterless, they sell their superb swordsmanship skills to the highest bidder. More often than not this puts them at odds with society and law/order.

I enjoyed painting this piece but getting the ellipses right wasn’t easy. Still seems kinda wonky but I’m okay with it. Pretty happy with the pose too.

#Shikigami
Tanuki - Shinobi. Prone to mischief and violence, Tanuki are generally viewed as a nuisance. While lesser Tanuki are more or less harmless, there have been multiple tales of greater Tanuki known to revel in causing destruction and chaos to their surroundings. Serving as a Shikigami, these alpha Tanuki must be respected and dealt with appropriately.

I think the details in the explosion came out the best with this painting. It was also fun painting the jewelry on the Tanuki. Seemed like a nice touch to give a master trickster.

Tanuki - Shinobi. Shinobi work clandestinely as assassins or saboteurs. Tanuki are prone to mischief and chaos making them better suited for sabotage. Working with explosives, traps, and stealth, this version of Shinobi sows chaos; zoning their opponents and singling them out for their team.

I never knew Tanuki had giant magical scrotums. So big and so magical it is said they can use them to fly and disguise themselves among other uses! Insane!

#Shikigami
Jorogumo - Ninja. Using their charms and mobility, a Jorogumo silently hunts her prey before striking from the shadows. Able to spin giant webs of spider silk, they can also create traps and hinder their opponents. As a Shikigami they occasionally can be seen aiding their master in reaching higher vantages.

This one was pretty cool to paint. The idea behind the spider silk around the rifle was to use the silk as a stabilizing force. Like a mount. I don’t know the physics behind something like that but, man I love fantasy.

This creature is called a roga.  It lives on Geonosis, and thinks the inside of an astromech droid would make a good nesting site.  Concept art by Doug Chiang, scanned from The Art of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones by Mark Cotta Vaz.
