#converting

LIVE

So this has been on my mind for a bit and I just wanted to touch on this subject for moment. I suppose I should of gave my opinon about this earlier in advance but for some reason I never got to it. So this is on the topic/conversation of converting from 3d models sites and converting it to 2,3, and 4 and copying aka recreating objects from games like the SL. Now you may disagree with what about to say, but here it goes.

Personally, I never had an issue with the conversions of 3d model meshes from 3d sites ( don’t confuse that with SL). My issue wasn’t so much that 3d model meshes was taken and converted, my issue was when the model was free to use for any one to begin with yet gets converted and placed behind a paywall. When something is free, it needs to remain free and not taken to make profit off, especially when you know said mesh wasn’t created by you. Thats why all the items I’ve converted from the sims 4 have remained free from a paywall cause 1. It’s not my mesh and 2. you know how i feel about this paywall shit. Now depending on the terms, you might want to be careful with what you convert, however, converting 3d models/meshs has been quite the norm in the sims community for some time. Just dont be shady by taking free 3d models to make a quick buck. That’s the quickest way of getting your items yanked and release publically.

Now on to copying. I understand both sides of the argument, everyone wants to feel and be unique in their own way and not flat out copied by ever little thing you do or say. But sims wise I feel the need to express this  cause it seems to be a lost thought to everyone, so here it is: Everything is a copy of something. Originality is dead and has been dead for quite some time.

What does that exactly mean? It means that almost every idea has been thought of  long before you, me, and anyone else alive at this moment. Chances are someone already thought of the idea you have conjured but express it in different way. That goes to movies, music, clothes, food, style, cars etc. they’ve all been copied but have there own unique little twists to it.

So for example, lets say Walmart was the first grocery to ever exist and come up with the idea of grocery store. Others follow along with that idea and think it’s wonderful to have a place where you can get all your food supplies, so they too start opening up their own grocery store. Walmart does not like this cause they thought of the idea first and feel like they should own it and should be the only grocery store ever and anyone else trying to do so otherwise is copying. That means walmart would be the only place you could ever shop from thus proventing you from various shopping options. That would be nightmare and hassle for many who don’t have a walmart near them or in location. Not to mention just plane asinine.

The point being is, all this yelling and pointing in the sims community about copying needs to stop. How would any of us have the content we have now if it wasn for taking inspiration aka copying from another source? Its normal to copy, even great painter, sculpter, and architect like Michelangelo had to copy and study the human body just so he could make his portraits and sculptures of people life like. He couldn’t of done that without looking, taking notes, and studying the human body.

Content creators within and outside of the community copy. You wouldn’t of gotten all those Ariana grande hairstyles if content creators didn’t copy it from the images/videos seen.

All the hairs, clothing, accessories, decor etc. is a copy of something seen on the internet or in real life, and just remade and place into the game. Even Second life content creators copy content and don’t come up with all their ideas on their own, they too take things they’ve seen from the internet/media.

Thats a few examples right there that prove people take and copy other objects but put their spin on it. Thats perfectly fine guys, if you see something on the internet, in another game, in a store, etc. and think you can recreate it, then do so and no one should make you feel bad about it. We have to stop policing other people’s creativity, cause then it places us inside a limited creative box. Sometimes you can have a unique idea but you still need a reference to execute it better. So yes, I take things from pinterest, fashion nova, I actually do like looking at certain SL content to get idea of how they made it so I can recreate it for myself. I know theres a fine, confusing line between copying and copyright infridment, so I’m not saying go out and rewrite harry potter and call it yours. I’m saying take bits and peices, put your own twist on it and remake it to the best of your abilities. We’ve been doing it, and we should continue doing it and that’s that.

A new tool for monitoring how much of recycled polymers get used in new products has been launched in the UK.

The recycling tool, called MOnitoring Recyclates for Europe (MORE), aims to track how much of recycled polymers become new products, as well as making a record of what the industry is doing to reach the 10 million tonnes of recycled polymers being used every year between 2025-2030 target set by the European Union (EU). This monitoring tool is now available for UK plastic converting companies.

By using MORE, UK companies can record and submit information on to what extent recycled polymers have been used in their new products.

On Monday 11 November, British Plastics Federation Director General, Philip Law, and European Plastics Converters Managing Director, Alexandre Dangis, signed a contract in London, making the UK – officially – the 13th country in the EU to supply the industry with the platform.

‘The plastics industry in the UK has been working to integrate more recycled content into its products and we are very happy to be making MORE available within the UK. Participation in the platform is key to its success and we urge companies to help us develop this valuable data so we can understand and communicate the UK’s progress,’ Law said.
