I just read Courtney Changes the Game and Courtney: Friendship Superhero, and I loved them! I was so prepared to be underwhelmed by them, because all of Courtney’s advertising is just 80s nostalgia, but her books are so much more than that.
The first quarter or so of both books start off very 80s nostalgia heavy, but then they start to deal with more serious topics, particularly Friendship Superhero. The Molly subplot really helped break it up a bit.
I was very impressed by it! It really read like the earlier historical books, with heavier topics and all. (I heard that Melody and Nanea’s books are also like this, can anyone confirm? I’d love to read them if they are!)
I’m happy that AG is really going back to giving the historicals books like these.
Overall, I just really enjoyed Courtney’s books, and would love to discuss them with you all!
