notes for doll ppl below the cut

ok so he’s nearly done now… still putting off giving him a dang haircut because i’m scared to mess up haha

replaced mattel hands with joker gloves
(that’s where his cane is from also… i don’t even like the joker but he has good purple accessories)
coat is from 11th doctor (BCS) though
shirt is mattel (from a twilight guy) as are jeans and shoes
pity his socks don’t show as they are purple too

the male MtM body is a little loose but i think once i get the hang of it i can pose it okay

notes for doll people under the cut

was lucky to have a spare tan male MtM body and a Lin Manuel Miranda head handy…

other ingredients include: vallejo model paints, small brushes, matte sealer, action figure/ collector ken clothes, screencaps, trial and error, and (as always) plenty of swearing.

depression

(for a flickr group theme)

he surrounds himself with cheerful chaos but some days the emptiness and uncertainty are stronger than all his plans and optimism.
it doesn’t help that pain from old injuries often keeps him from staying active… what would otherwise reassure him of his own identity.

cheetah!ainley

inspired by the fact that my ainley stand-in didn’t look enough like the actor, by furries the last story of classic who (SURVIVAL), and probably by that one custom barbie that @dollsahoy did ages ago… googled up some cheetah photos and painted this fellow in like an hour the other day.

(in actual seriousness, though, respect for furries and the levels of detail they go to w costuming)

3rd time’s a charm?

finally ready to show my new version of Dhawan!m, using a 3d-printed headsculpt by @modernwizard(message her for the link if you want to buy one - she also has just finished a Missy headsculpt which i’m gonna get next!)

i did the hair with heatmold plastic and of course painted the face, which took the longest. i think this is the first time i have ever painted a fig or doll from the primer up (instead of starting from an existing paint job or at least a vinyl color in the case of aziraphale), so that was an experience. i guess i am way less scared to do so again, in fact it’s kind of addictive?

process photos HERE for doll people who are interested in that sort of thing :)
