Do you enjoy orangutan librarians? Angry witches with frying pans? An incredibly
sexyeducated and effective tyrant? Truth? Justice? Freedom? Reasonably priced love? Hard boiled eggs?* Then you’ll love Terry Pratchett’s Discworld! If you’re not sure where to begin, a lot of people recommend:
1) City Watch series beginning with Guards! Guards! (sarcastic policeman forces social justice on his city and the world)
2) Tiffany Aching series beginning with The Wee Free Men (angry girl teams up with tiny, equally angry Scottish fairies to save her home and become a witch)
3) Death series beginning with Mort (anthropomorphized Death loves human inventions and cats, occasionally interferes in human affairs with wild results)
What’s your favorite order? I myself started with Going PostalandMaking Money (both of which I LOVE), then tackled City Watch, Death, and some others from there (I haven’t finished all the other books yet)!
*Outlandish Monty Python-esque humor and head-scratching footnotes?

Disctober 29: Friendship.
Make way for one of Discworld’s saddest scenes at all, ladies and gentlemen.
“A shadow appeared in the doorway.
Detritus walked in.
They looked at the limp shape in his hands. He laid it carefully on a bench, without saying a word, and went and sat in a corner. While the others gathered round the mortal remains of Acting-Constable Cuddy, the troll removed his homemade cooling helmet and sat staring at it, turning it over and over in his hands.” - Men at arms.
