WhatIWore: After this week of Halloween and vampy lips, here’s a basic B everyday look! I made this faux shearling jacket last year when I was pregnant and I’ve been playing around with ways to wear it this season. It’s pretty cropped and needs a longer layer underneath, otherwise it feels a little too top heavy.
Honestly guys, I’m just feeling a little brain dead lately and can’t think of anything else to write. Hope you have a beautiful weekend! My folks are arriving today and we have lots of house projects to work on and celebrating for my mom’s birthday!!
When: Last Thursday
What:
Shades: Karen Walker
Sweater: Lands End (similar)
Jacket: Self Made (longer option)
Jeans: Crafted by Lee (online only - and $23!)
Boots: UGG (similar here)
Bag: Frye (older style)
Where: Coffeeshop
WhatIWore: Here’s what I wore yesterday.

What:

Dress:Who What Where
Leather Jacket: MICHAEL Michael Kors
Booties: Clarks
Where: Coffee Shop + Thrifting
WhatIWore: This outfit is the result of my chance at a morning to “get ready” while I had no idea what to wear. I saw this blouse in my hall closet and haven’t worn it in a long time, so I went with an outfit kind of like this. Sometimes I just go for the archives when I don’t feel particularly inspired (see more ideas below!) I’m still loving those $23 Crafted by Lee jeans, but because of the high stretch content I do find myself washing them regularly. But at that price, they’re pretty great (and have the feel of leggings, so I can be on the floor with kids or doing chores or whatever and completely comfortable!
When: October 24, 2017
What:
Shades: Karen Walker
Blouse: Old
Leather Jacket: MICHAEL Michael Kors (similar)
Jeans:Crafted by Lee (online only)
Boots: Clarks (from last season, similar here)
Where: All Over Town
WhatIWore: We had such a fun time on our family trip into the woods last week! Here’s another outfit I wore while we were there. Adam and I went into a nearby town for breakfast and wifi (Brew in Jasper - we highly recommend!) so I put on a little lipstick with my woodsy camp side look.
When: October 19, 2017
What:
Shades: Karen Walker
Jacket: Old and updated with patches (similar silhouette here)
Flannel Pullover: J.Crew (similar here)
Jeans: J.Crew
Boots:LL Bean
Where: Lincoln State Park and breakfast at Brew in Jasper
You may remember that I wore this patch jacket last year during the same trip, but I’ve added about six new patches! Unfortunately I didn’t get sharp shots of all of them, but my favorite is the Indiana Bicentennial patch that Adam had made up last year with the help of a designer friend of ours (Ryan Irvin - he’s awesome!) I have some extras if anyone is interested for $5, shipping included. Super limited quanities! Just use this link (and make sure you enter an updated mailing address and I’ll ship them out this week!)
WhatIWore: Hi guys! Updating y’all with a quick post while we’re in town having breakfast and using wifi! Adam took these photos of me and Bea yesterday while we’re on our annual family cabin/camping trip. It’s her first time here and she’s loving it!
When: October 18, 2017
What:
Shades: Karen Walker
Coat:Pendleton (older style)
Sweater: LL Bean (similar!)
Jeans:J.Crew (on sale)
Boots:LL Bean
On Bea: Columbia Fleece and Fringe Mocs
This is more or less my camping uniform - jeans, Bean boots, a sweater and coat. I bought this particular coat for our Lincoln trip four years ago and it is, by far, my warmest! As the week goes on, I’ll likely get a little grungier by the day, but hey! Isn’t that the joy of being outdoors all day?
Here are a few photos (oneandtwo) of me wearing this coat in different variations. Those snaps prove to me that I used to try a lot harder before kids! But now… I have way more fun. Have a wonderful weekend, guys!
WhatIWore: Good morning! Hope everyone had a nice weekend. I worked my tail off on Saturday with painting the house and it’s looking pretty great! This is what I wore on Friday to take the kids to the doctor and out for donuts. If you watch my instagram stories (and you should because I’m ridiculous and also because we’ll feel more like close friends) then you know I overdyed my hair last week. These photos were taken after one wash. It’s semi permanent color and I already feel like it’s washing out too fast! Maybe I should have kept it on longer? I’ve been having my hair colored in the salon for years but I just couldn’t wait until my next appointment to get it done. At least I didn’t completely botch my ‘do! Unless maybe you count my bang trim? Win some, lose some!
And speaking of hair styles, this one plus the outfit has me feeling all of the Brooklyn vibes. And by that I mean when I lived in Brooklyn nine years ago. I told Adam and he was like… Jessica, you’re standing in front of a forrest. Whatever! You get the point, right?
When: October 13, 2017
What:
Shades: Karen Walker ‘Super Duper’
Jacket:BlankNYC
Dress; Old Navy (similar)
Belt: Vintage
Booties:Rag and Bone
Where: Out with the Kiddos
The dress was a cheapie from Old Navy I bought on cleanance after having Bea when I was desperate to feel normal again. It’s a little big so I cinched it in with a vintage belt (that I used to wear all the time in my Brooklyn days!) I’m also wearing a pair of booties that were a fortune when I bought them, but I’ve worn them so many times they’ve become a really smart purchase (I call that cost per wear… and at this point they have to be around a dollar per!) To top it off is my new-this-season suede jacket that I initially bought because it had such a 70s vibe, but feels quite modern with this look (here’s another way I styled it that I really loved too)
WhatIWore: These photos really capture October to me. Not the warm, bright blue skies contrasting the red and orange leaves, but the gloomy and damp days that tell us winter is getting closer. I’ve been inspired lately by all of the English woolen tweeds I’ve seen in magazines and glad I bought this one in my normal size last year when I was pregnant with Bea (worn here andhere). Today I layered it over a vest and pale chambray top and flared dark denim. Very Annie Hall in a way - especially with the hat!
When: October 11, 2017
What:
Hat: Self Made (similar
Sunglasses: LOFT
Blazer: J.Crew (kinda similar)
Chambray:J.Crew
Vest: Lands’ End Canvas
Jeans:Frame
Boots: Frye
Where: Goodwill and Target with the kiddos

PS. Buh bye blonde! I dyed my hair dark this morning! And I love it! Will post to Instagram!
WhatIWore: Lately I’ve been getting up early and heading to a coffee shop before the sun rises so I can have some focused time to work on my blog while Adam watches the kids. Trust me when I tell you that when I have a chance to roll solo, I make the most of it, including getting ready and putting on a proper outfit. This is what I wore earlier this week - a combo of two investment pieces that I’m so excited to wear this fall. You saw this Free People dress on the blog a couple weeks ago here and then I styled this suede jacket over a sundress last week here. Together they’re bringing all the fall vibes! Gimme a pumpkin spiced latte NOW!

What:
Shades:Karen Walker
Suede Jacket: BlankNYC
Dress: Free People (on sale for small sizes here) (three colorways here)
Boots: Frye (older style)
