their story is that Markus (big bird) is pressured by his kingdom’s queen to steal human souls that they can break and turn into bird warriors for the big invasion she is planning. Markus sneaks in people’s houses through their mirrors and posseses them to get control of their soul. but when he possesses Ace, he feels that this human is attracted to him he is blown away by this and becomes extremely curious as he has never experienced that before. so instead of stealing his soul, he keeps lying to his queen telling her that Ace’s is too strong and he has to return multiple times in this human’s house to “fight” him
CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW DIFFERENT THIS IS??? because as someone who works in digital marketing, my jaw literally dropped.
When I put out an ad for a client on Facebook, I can target like… new moms in their 30s who are looking for furniture within a 10-mile radius. Or people who have an anniversary coming up. People who have just moved. People who are in a new relationship. People who have elementary school kids and tend to vote Republican. People who have liked certain Pages. It’s absolutely unnerving.
the utter chaos of this, though.
it’s just… incredible.
Honestly though, as someone myself who works in infosec and data privacy, what this suggests to me is that Tumblr either doesn’t have, or isn’t willing / able to use, that detailed targeting information about its users. Which is great!! Every other company out there - not just social media companies but everything from your grocery store to your car insurance company to your operating system provider - actively collects as much demographic data as it can about its users specifically for this kind of ad targeting purposes.
Obviously Tumblr still collects some data and uses it for ad targeting; they do have this in their Privacy settings:
But the fact that they’re either unable, or are choosing not, to make that data available to people buying Blaze posts is such a huge win for data protection and a giant thumbing of the nose to the FAANGs who believe that the only way to make ad revenue work is to make ads as targeted as possible.
I can’t express how much I hope Blaze succeeds with this insane and chaotic model. XD
Knowing Hellsite, they just can’t FIND where they store all that data.

the dog: I’m at work! I’m doing so good at being at work! I’m barking because my handler gave the sign ‘bark’! I am going to get such a good grade in being a dog actor, which is completely possible to achieve, and normal to want! I am doing a great job! I am proud of myself for doing such a great job! I love this, because I’d make it physically impossible to get anything done if I wasn’t enjoying it! I’m barking!
I love seeing dogs and wolves in movies because they’re acting so vicious but also their tails are wagging so hard unless the post-processing guys specifically edited out the tails (which is slightly less obvious but also hilarious in a different way once you spot it).
This is why I love the dog in the original casting of The Thing so damn much. I have neverseen an acting dog move with such a deliberate, calm intent. It was like every single motion and gesture this animal made was intentional.
Apparently, according to the behind-the-scenes documentation, this dog was just fuckin like that. Almost never, if at all, looked at the camera crews and production teams. Never excitedly wagged his tail on set no matter how much of a good boy he was being. If he did, it was the same… deliberatemotions.
His name was Jed, and even though he’s a dog, he deserves an oscar. He was an exceptionally good boy.
Jed also played the role of White Fang in the 90s Disney film version!
I honestly can’t imagine a better portrayal of a stoic, aloof White Fang, who gradually softens, than Jed. Good boy.
