when tri was announced I was filled with joy. when I saw it for 1st time it had the same feeling as if I was meeting a close old friend (esp that the chosen kids were the same age as me at that time ) … the same thing now with Last evolution. I know it may be a silly thing to believe, but each one of Digimon adventure series got released when I needed it the most … I can’t express how much I love Digimon and how much I am lucky that I had the chance to come across it when I was a kid.

It just hit me that in Tri Taichi’s mom was hanging a shirt similar to Daigo’s. I went emotional for a second, I don’t know if this symbolizes Daigo’s message in the last ova about the new generation being the future builders of the world.

Some part of me is holding out hope that the reboot brings up some of the arcs from Adventure, even if its not all of them, and just one more aside from Devimon. Then again I’m a sucker from the angst brought on by the Myotismon arc… hmm… maybe it could work.

The fact that only Agumon and Gabumon have proper evolution sequences has me scared that Adventure 20 is gonna ultimately turn into yet another “The Two Lead Protagonists Show” with everyone else getting backgrounded.

I saw a mention of “Dark Takeru” and was immediately interested. I’ve always loved the idea of a character having to control a dark power, and this seemed like a perfect fit, if it was done well. Needless to say, I was more than a little let down when I found what they were ACTUALLY talking about. Yeah, he lashed out. Given the situation, I don’t blame him for being pushed over the edge. He’s not a machine. It happens to everybody.

I’m late, I know, but Taichi’s reaction to Koushiro’s expertise in the reboot was unexpectedly wholesome and I wanna thank the writers for not going down the more disparaging path with it. (Was it that way in the original? I just realized while writing this that I may not have watched it!)

This reboot is amazing so far! The character development of both children and Digimon, the story, the slow pacing keeping us in suspense, the new forms for familiar Digimon and cameos of older Digimon. I can’t wait to see where it goes from here! It feels like my childhood again.

I’d love to see interactions between Miyako and Jyou. They’re both the youngest of their siblings and the oldest of their Chosen group, so I could see them being interesting character foils.

I like most of the new English voice actors for the Digidestined in Tri and Kizuna, but there’s one new actor particular that’s so ill-fitting for the characters they play that it’s soured me on their roles outside of Digimon, even though they’re still a talented actor! It’s really petty but I can’t help it…

Mienumon should have been the Gatomon of Appmon, getting a redemption and partner. Would increase the drama in the series for sure.

I had high hopes for the Digimon Adventure reboot, but it now seems on track to be a “Monster of the Week” type show. There are interesting new things about the series, like the Frontier influenced backstory, but other than that it has a pretty formulaic episode format in some aspects. I also think the pacing between evolutions can be spaced out more. Did we really need an Ultimate (Perfect) level Digimon reveal in episode 9? I hope the series can break out of this trend.

Sora was, and still is one of my anime crushes, and ever since I watched the original Digimon as a kid, I’ve always been attracted to hair like Sora’s, especially if it’s red hair.

If the royal knights are to ever show up in the adventure reboot, I PRAY we see them as good guys, and hell, as likable characters as well. After all, Omnimon is with the digidestined. I can see them maybe at first being somewhat antagonists, thinking they’d use omnimon for their own gain, but when omnimon is unleashed to stop them from hurting the digidestined, they do a heel face turn and fight alongside the good guys. Plus I want to see slayerdramon and breakdramon explored.

My bf has watched every other season, but has recently been watching Frontier for the first time. he says it’s nowhere near Tamers or Adventure (That’s for sure) But says it might be better than 02. Is it bad to leave him over this? I can’t justify staying with someone who thinks Frontier is better than - even just the first half of 02. The only thing Frontier is better than is Hunters, and that’s an awfully low bar.
