Victor von Doom; Cynthia von Doom

Part 13 of my sigil project, where I design emblems, sigils, seals and runes for my favorite Marvel magic characters. I finally got around to the von Doom family!

Doctor Doom’s late mother, Cynthia, was a witch who used her powers to protect her family and community. Cynthia kept all of her magical tools and texts in a chest, which Victor inherited after her death. Although Victor’s magical expertise has far exceeded his mother’s witchcraft, his origins as a sorcerer lie in that ancestral practice.

This design is based on two things: the Latverian flag under Doom’s rulership, which mimics the shape of his mask; and a “w”-shaped emblem that has appeared on Cynthia’s chest, and a number of Victor’s other belongings, in various comics. It’s a bit simple, but I like that it mirrors the “m” shape of the Maximoffcrest.

As always, for witch characters, I created the name-sigils by compositing letters in the Theban alphabet. I’m particularly pleased with the swoopey line on Cynthia’s :)

If I was evil I would talk in a booming voice and be constantly shouting like doctor doom

FUCK HIM UP CLEA YOU BEAUTIFUL MAGICAL DOMME <3

I’m still mad they reverted Doom to this instead of him being Infamous Iron Man still. Where he showed he was big enough of a person to admit he was wrong and that he needed to be better as a person in order to make the world better. Like. Yeah I get hammy, jealous Doom is fun and all, but it’s really compelling when your guy that your AUs always say is actually right when it comes to his vision of the future realizes his supervillainy is not the way to make that better future but selflessness and sacrifice for others is.

I agree 100%. Doom in Infamous Iron Man was great and a fascinating new direction for one of my all time favorite characters.

Then it ended and Doom reverted back to his 1980’s self with no explanation as to why other than lazy writing.

What a waste :(

dazzleshot:

Reed needed a matching fit if he’s going to be Doom’s plus one ;)

latveriastrong:

Just note: Doctor Doom had a lovely private dinner date with Reed Richards on a holiday he created specifically for that purpose (as Reed says at the end, “Same time next year?”) and absolutely no one is doing it like Them.

Yung Victor Von Doom hopes everyone is having a fine Sunday! ❤️

(except for the Latverian aristocratic class, they can all go to hell )

some mornings, I am not awake yet

“The wolf watched eagerly as the girl came closer upon his request thinking he had tricked her at last. Yet she did not believe the wolf’s lies and so the young girl slit the wolf’s throat and her cape was coated in it’s red blood, she saved her grandmother and the pair lived happily ever after.”

I commissioned this beautiful Von Doom Family Portrait of Victor and his son Kristoff from @ecairnsart and I love it very much!

The full color version of this one by @ecairnsart and I’m floored by how beautiful it is. I’m emotional!

doomreed:

Art by @ecairnsart and I wish I had a clever blurb for this but I’m just staring at it being giddy over how lovely it is?

This ship has taken over my life and I’m very okay with that.

If Marvel and DC switched villains these are the fights I would like to see

I focused on Heroes the normies are familiar with but tried to use some obscure villains
