Film screening: “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” (1982)

June 21, 7 p.m.

Marking the 40th anniversary of the stage production!

A town’s sheriff and regular patron of a historical whorehouse fights to keep it running when a television reporter targets it as the devil’s playhouse.

We hold the papers of actress Carlin Glynn, who originated the role of Mona Stangley, and Peter Masterson, who co-wrote and co-directed the original production. See materials from their collection on display in the exhibition Stories to Tell.

Introduced by Eric Colleary, the Ransom Center’s Cline Curator of Theatre and Performing Arts. Runtime: 114 minutes. Free; doors at 6:30 p.m.

Hey guys so I’m at a sleepover and I’m an early bird so I photoshopped Dolly Parton holding the Holy Moonlight Sword to pass some time

the hero we deserve

There Was Jesus - by Zach Williams, Featuring Dolly Parton

This song has been out for awhile now, and I’ve always liked it, but the more I hear it the more I like it.

Dolly Parton shines like the star that she is. A 74 year old woman with the pipes of a 20 year old.

no no that’s a bop, i love it

“Woman!” cried I, somewhat tearsome,

“Who are you to stand so fearsome

With your wavy locks of auburn hair and eyes of emerald green?”

Quoth the woman, “I’m Jolene”
