In answer, I have not read Dracula, but they’re into each other enough that my published Dracula fanfic about Quincy went out of its way to give Arthur an OC sister for Quincy to date. As you are an educated person of the world, I’ll let you draw your own conclusions from here.

Oops, I misphrased that! I didn’t write it, I just own a copy. In any case, it’s called Quincy Morris, Vampire, and the real author is P.N. Elrod. It’s a very fun read so far, and I’d check Thriftbooks for it, as that was where I finally found my copy.

Walks up to the microphone and leans in close: Survival-horror-romance dating simulator game based on Dracula, wherein you have the option to try and get a date with one of the canon characters, or just try and survive period. You are playing as Jonathan, there are an insane number of possibly endings (including many polyamorous ones) including, but not limited to: getting together with all three of Dracula’s weed-smoking girlfriends and Dracula, the previous one except Dracula’s excluded, helping Lucy land all three of the men courting her, stealing all three of Lucy’s beaus, and many more!
The entire thing is done in shojo manga art style, but loyal to the descriptions from the novel. Also, I really, really want the cover of the game to have Dracula holding a bouquet of roses and looking super shojo, while Jonathan hides behind a corner in the foreground with a look of absolute terror while writing frantically in his diary. Game title? “Don’t Notice Me, Sempai!” Because I’m a classy meme like that.
Also, if you go with the Dracula + weed-smoking-girlfriends option, yes you can help him try and take over England, and yes it’s possible to achieve this. This is also how you get the harem ending. You can also have Jonathan survive the entire thing but still wind up single - that’s how you unlock the ending wherein he can potentially end up with you, his trusted and loyal penpal, who’s been with him in spirit, if not physically, this whole time.

Not only does it look absolutely ridiculous, if you’ve romanced Dracula enough at this point, he’ll have a bouquet of flowers in his mouth that he was bringing you, which makes it look even sillier. If you manage to get him to do this, you also win affection points from the vampire ladies due to having gotten Dracula to act like such a nerd and then handling it well - you have proven you’re cool enough to chill with them as a buddy instead of a snack!
Not to be all “rip, I’m different,” but I’m relatively sure I’m the only one bobbing through the Dracula Daily community due to reading a fantasy book in tenth grade, finding out the author wrote another book about some guy being a vampire, finding out it’s basically published Dracula fanfiction, spending over a decade hunting it down in spite of - and this is important - really not liking vampires (but that first book was just so good), finally finding it, acquiring it, and dawdling through it, only to be about halfway through by the time Dracula Daily became a prominent thing. It’s just such a weirdly specific way to end up in the community, you know?
tl;dr: I’ve got a very specific, personal reason for being excited for the cowboy to show up; also this fanfic is way more revisionist of the original text than I first thought but also I don’t care, it’s fun!

Gotta admit, for all I’m ragging on it a little, it has been a very good read so far - I mean, the reason I went hunting for it in the first place is I enjoyed the author’s writing so much, and they’ve come through! If you want to give it a try, I got my copy on Thriftbooks and there are a few copies available as of the time I’m making this post. Though, reminder, while it’s officially published, it’s still fanfic, and the author is running a touch buck-wild with the original text and has obvious character biases for who they do and don’t like. If you end up really liking the cowboy when he shows up, though, 10/10, highly recommended, very fun AU starring him!

Apologies, the esteemed editor for this Tuesday edition has been afflicted by the most severe case of brain rot pertaining to a certain solicitor’s clerk and his count. The story so far (careful, spoilers ahead, kinda):
(Spoilers) I mean I think multiple interpretations very valid, but I keep wondering if all these people who have already settled on Seward as The Worst Villain ActuallyTM are actually going to enjoy the rest of Dracula Daily? Like, if they are going to be able to engage with it and have a fun time with it? Because I mean. There’s a lot of Seward.
I also find it interesting that this is the tipping point for many. Like, the ableism and 19th century bad medical practice is, well, bad. But yesterday (which I love) was a hotpot of misogyny and racism, and even back with Dracula and Jonathan there was quite a bit of racism and xenophobia going on. And yet I found the discussion there either more nuanced (great!) or non-existent, because people wanna focus on memes and fun times. I’m curious why that is. I would say that maybe it’s because this hits closer to home for many but it isn’t like the types of racism and misogyny explained isn’t alive today as well. Hmm. Food for thought.
