You ever have to do way more work because somebody dropped the ball on a tiny task?
The shower arm in our bathroom wasn’t static — if you moved the shower head the arm would move freely in and out of the wall. After researching the issue I learned that the shower riser wasn’t secured properly. I assumed that there was no blocking in the wall (the wood between studs used to secure the riser.) Opening the access panel we have opposite the shower wall confirmed that there was blocking in place, so that was good.
In the last six months we had a plumber come in to replace the pipes behind the shower, specifically the faucet interior and the joints for the hot, cold, and shower riser. Before him, a handyman came by to replace drywall in the bathroom and repaint. I figured one of them forgot to resecure it after their other work.
So not knowing exactly what I’m dealing with I cut a big damn hole in the wall and what do I find? The blocking was UNTOUCHED! Nobody, including the original plumber, ever attached the goddamn riser to the wall. 2 screws and I was done with the actual job. I had to drill pilot holes first because my drill wasn’t strong enough to drive the screws into the rock-would wood. The rest was just fixing the hole I made to get to the actual problem. Sonuvabitch.
It’s not polished work but it’s done. Perfect is the enemy of good, folks. Also, I used a couple paint stirrers taped together to reattach the drywall I had to remove. Innovation!
