The issue with this episode is they shoved a crap ton of information into one episode. We have to deal with the Gil and Jessica romance, the aftermath of Ainsley’s murder (Malcolm’s coverup), unarmed black shootings (blm? kind of but not really), a new murderer, Martin’s killing tendencies, Malcolm’s self sacrificing tendencies, Gil’s recovery, a random covid mention, and a random sex dungeon confession scene???
Also only one second of Sunshine who really is the only stable character in the whole show.
Unpopular opinion: but I wish they would not make Edrisa such a comedic relief character and rather give her actual depth. Kind of bored with seeing Asian characters not having full character development.
Season 2, I’m looking at you
Okay, Gil needs to quit interrupting Edrisa & Malcolm’s autopsy flirty time. Let my murder nerds have their love!

I love Edrisa but I HATE how they write/treat the character. She’s a doctor, female doctor. And she’s portrayed as a love-sick, cringy, ditzy, teenager. She is a bad*SS woman and deserves some respect.
While I do hope we get an Edrisa-centric episode this season, I don’t necessarily have a problem with how her character is portrayed. Some people are socially awkward like Edrisa, but that doesn’t detract from how awesome they can be. Take tonight’s episode, for example. Even though her caffeine high was used for comedic purposes, Malcolm wouldn’t have been able to solve the case and find Ainsley in time without Edrisa’s input near the end.
See where I’m going with this? People can be badass in different ways. Edrisa is clearly very smart, but her disposition isn’t the same as Dani’s. And there’s nothing wrong with that. You can be bubbly, flighty, nervous, anxious etc. and still be capable of a job well-done. However, as we saw tonight, Edrisa should definitely cut back on the caffeine. Haha.
