#eid al adha
In the Eastern hemisphere, it’s already Eid al-Adha, while in the Western hemisphere, we’re almost there!
Eid al-Adha, meaning “festival of the sacrifice”, commemorates when Prophet Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son Ismail as an act of submission to God. God, seeing that Abraham was a devoted man, provided Abraham with a lamb to sacrifice instead.
Because of this, many Muslims worldwide sacrifice lambs and usually give the food to the poor, or give money that would buy a lamb to the poor.
With violence being persistent in the Middle East, I personally pray this Eid that God ends it. I have family in Syria so it’s hard being happy, buying new clothes, receiving gifts and going out, having those luxuries, when I know my family in Syria can’t find means to meet basic human needs.
Enjoy this time with your family, be grateful, and remember God.
Happy Eid!
