The Rain Tie
The sky lost its rainbow
So he wore a rain tie
Thinking no one would notice
For his hopes were so high
Though he tied up his eyes
And his ears in his collar
He didn’t hear but in fact
The whole world did hollar
New set up! I got a myself a midi controller and have been practising live looping for a week now. Recording my first looping performance today with layers of my vocals, synthesizers, and drums. A new song I made for my mom on Mother’s Day, “Captain Obvious.” It’s reggae-inspired. The idea is to record a video of me playing each layer consecutively. Almost ready to start performing locally! Subscribe to my YouTube Artist’s Channel @ Electric Armchair so you don’t miss out!!
Trapezoid
Lyrics by April Salisbury-White @electricarmchair
——-
I’m so convexed
Pushed and pulled in every way
I almost don’t know what to say
Yet still I find some truth in words
If even not the answer
–
Carry on until the puzzle pieces
Are all gone, and have to pick them up
On older ground to fully move along
——–
I don’t want to fight, but it’s a such an inner battle
With myself, I’m indecive and it makes me mad
That I can’t make my mind and spend that time
Just trying to unwind
And it gets so bad
–
I’m a clutz
With dozens of projects going at once
And I stumble and fall to the rubble
And make new garden entirely
Damn the old shit - gotta burst that bubble
——-
Trapezoid, I know, To the void
——-
Ey - Into the void
This space is a trapezoid
I’m so convexed
2d in a 3d world
Annoyed
And it gets me stressed
——–
I’m so convexed, Must be a test
Got me a perplexed, I’m feeling stressed
Breezing through production on my fifth album Living Ghosts after shelving the project in September/ October due to some kinks that I had to iron out. Now that I know what I’m doing, it’s so much easier to achieve the sound I want for these songs. This album will be an alt rock album compared to my usual synthwave. I primarily used layers of vocals, electric guitars, and electronic drums for this album. I would have released the album when I wrote the songs a few years ago, but I couldn’t actually play most of the guitar parts I had written properly until now.
17 or 18 songs that I wrote from 2017 - 2021
Coming soon!
I recorded a video of me performing my top song Bad Habits with vocals and keyboard. I didn’t make a looping cover, not yet. I haven’t bought the synth I want yet. I know which one I want though.
I will post the video on Monday April 11 to my Official YouTube Artist’s Channel @ Electric Armchair.

Bad Habits was the first full song I ever produced and released.
In September 2020, I started teaching myself music production and released a raw layered version of Bad Habits to YouTube. It gained over 5.1k views. In the same week I created Bad Habits, I also created the rest of The Electric Gradient album. I released the album with a better version of Bad Habits on my birthday in June 2021. Bad Habits is a song composed of my vocals, synthesizers, and electric guitars. There is a single version released a week before the album, which features electric guitar instead of synthesizer. It’s very interesting how different the song sounds when you switch out an instrument. The guitar version sounds like Spongebob SquarePants to me (which can be great because I love Ween.)

If you don’t know Bad Habits, listen to the song on all streaming platforms, or watch the music video on YouTube! Compare with the original raw version also on YouTube. It might also be on IGTV.

–
I have a bad habit
Of finishing sentences -
Minutes to hours,
After they’ve passed.
Days to weeks,
Weeks to months -
I’ll pick up the topic
Right from where I left off,
Like we never stepped off,
My mind tends to drift off.
–
I have a tendency
To take on too many entities,
Stretching myself thin -
Too many somethings.
–
I have a tendency
To take on too many entities,
Stretching myself thin -
Too many somethings.
(Kicking the habit)
–
And I don’t want to brag
But these tools in my belt
Are weighing me down.
–
I find my mind stirring old words,
Connecting the cords of a circuit
That’s long been forgotten.
I’ve picked up the topic,
Ive traced back each step to the start,
And where do we go from here?
We’re living on borrowed parts.
And where do we go from here?
–
(Kicking the habit) (Kicking the habit) (Kicking the habit)
–
And where do we go from here?
We’re living on borrowed parts.
And where do we go from here?
Closeup of an eye of a drawing that didn’t work out. It didn’t work out because it wasn’t supposed to be a self portrait and it’s definitely me. I was supposed to loosely follow a photo, not completely copy it!
Brain Stem

I close my eyes but I can’t close my ears
I feel much safer when I’m close to fear
I’ve never been that much of a straight edge
Not a wallflower, more of a brain stem
Addicted to most obscure things
Got no radio to play my station
I run on a much different wavelength
Bent my antennae in the strangest way
Ears hear what they do not say
I’ve written my own rules to the game
—
Hear no evil
I wish there was a switch
Looks so easy
As if there was a bridge
Dance with demons
Like I was a witch
Hollowed Sea
Lyrics by April Salisbury-White
–
A hollowed sea
Had carried me
So far away
You won’t believe
Libre d'esprit
My spirit free
Un naufrage
A castaway
Some trickery
Was played on me
My body anchored
To the seabed
I lost my head
–
In a mid sludge stance
In the smudge of land
With the flow of things settled
This is where I stand
On an isle in the hollowed sea
For a while this is where I’ll be

The Bloodshot Eye
Lyrics by April Salisbury-White
Electric Armchair @electricarmchair
———-
Bloodshot eye
Stared too long
The Cyber sun
Was much too strong
-
Forced to quit
Closed eye lids
Digital self gone
For the moment
———-
Had to quit when I was almost there
Hit a hitch and I got a bloodshot eye
Looked like I was fucking high
Blame it on the blindspot, ah this damn left eye
–
How to take it easy, I have never known
The quick road, took the long way home
I have a such a bad habit of trying to do
Everything on my own
–
Keep it stupid simple - wait, that’s not right
My mouth doesn’t know whats on my mind
I’m two steps ahead, and part of me
Will always be two steps behind
–
Reel it back, leave a bigger gap
Not as planned, curse the blindspot - fuck this shit
Got a headache, can’t make a lap
Take a break, need a big drug hit
———–
Take it easy
I don’t know how to live
Without attempting to record everything
That I do - got a drive to
Create before it slips out of view
Working on an angry explicit song about having a bloodshot eye while trying to produce music! I look bored in the photo but this was the best one - at least my eyes are both open! It’s the month of April and what better way to celebrate than to stream my album Electric Armchair’s Feast Of Fools on your favourite music platform!! Thanks for the support, new exciting stuff is coming soon!!
To be an April on April First
As a kid could be the very worst
The kids played tricks on me at school
And crowned me as their April FoolI’ve seen so many tricks by now
I’m going to fool the world somehow
Next year will so far from the worst
To be an April on April First

“Limelight” by April Salisbury-White
Drawing for an album cover. Not finished yet. It’s kind of a joke; I’ve been doing traditional illustrations but digitally coloured for my first four albums, and this one is completely techno but with a hand drawn cover art. Kind of misleading. It’s great. The techno album will hopefully be the sixth album I release, following the release of my fifth album Living Ghosts, the guitar one I’m currently working on.

Janfebrumarchuary
The cruelest month of all
Is Janfebrumarchuary
When the snow melts, when you fall
On the ice if you’re not weary
–
The month when airs too crisp
Too dry, your breath is but a wisp
Your eyes have tears, icicles
Frozen, just a vessel
–
For the snow to pile up
You’re a snowman in the brawl
In Janfebrumarchuary
It’s the cruelest month of all
–
When the snow melts
You’ll fall too
As you fade into the blue
Pillars, ice pelts
Melting tombs
And you’re slipping out of view
“Mistakes Made” by April Salisbury-White
It was a normal face until my hand slipped and the mouth went weird.
I hated the drawing, so I drew more detail. Still hated it so I coloured it and now I hate it less? The page is very shiny. It smells of Mr Sketch markers. Which suck. They’re only good for looking like a weird marker sniffer. I almost coloured a hole through the sketchbook.

Blackout Block
(or The Wicks And The Wax)
Unsettling has nestled in
The sound of a blackout’s deafening
The cat is moaning like a ghost
To the darkness cast in the home
–
I’m wrestling with a tealight wick
Formed with a wax I found
So far away the city’s lit
Around our blackout bounds

Star Gazer
We are star gazers
Phasing through light
We set our lasers bright
Stifle the night
–
When it seems all the light is dry
Star gazers cast that spite aside
Spark the divide
Hope is a star that could never die
–
Darkness confides
Don’t need weapons to shine
When you realize
That it’s all inside your mind
–
Close your eyes
And you just might find
The star gazers
It’s a state of mind
You just need to try and you’ll see
–
Go set the scene, don’t wait for me
To expect a change is insanity
You’ll only move if you do what you want to do
I only flew ‘cause I knew what I needed to prove
–
Stars come and go, you never know what’s there
What’s what is somewhere else but here
You can’t trust your eyes, so ostrasized
The cosmic lies - stitches in time
Are compromised - The best disguise
Gotta trust the gut inside your mind
Cause the ties that bind are the keys that wind
The stars you keep beneath the tide
