V.E Schwab writes such dynamic and complex characters that are so unforgettable. Like they have so much range and spice to them,, they’re just *chef’s kiss*

I often find myself thinking about the gay little family in Vicious and the nerdy little romantics in Addie Larue and the bisexual Slytherpuffs in Shades of Magic. I wish I could give Kell, Lila, Addie, Henry, Victor, Syd, Mitch, Eli and Rhy a little forehead kiss and protect them.

“Because you don’t think I’m a bad person,” he said. “And I don’t want to prove you wrong.”

Time to finally reveal a HUGE checkmark off my wishlist!
♠️
A revisit to the ADSOM and Villains crossover illustration, now a papercraft! Inspired by the two series by V.E. Schwab! Last year, the illustration version of this concept was made available as a print at Illumicrate’s booth at YALC. It originally was pitched to be a papercraft, as you can see here! Unfortunately, due to time constraints in my schedule, we opted to print the illustrated/vector version, but I always had the intention to finish the final papercraft. The progress on this was something I’d do minutes at a time in between my larger projects over the next several months. This week I was relistening to Vicious and it spurred me to finish the handful of hours I had left to complete it. ✨
♠️
Fun fact! This piece was the first time I proposed to Illumicrate the concept of integrating illustrated vellum paper into papercrafts (for the faces and hands.) And even though we didn’t reach the stage to test it out, the idea was revisited for the dust jacket papercraft for Illumicrate’s The Cruel Prince Collections Edition!

If you’re interested in snagging a print of the original illustration, Illumicrate still has them available in their shop!

Time to reveal my favorite papercraft artwork that I’ve made for the Illumicrate mug series! Featured in their June 2020 box! Based on the Villains Duology by Victoria Schwab!

I always love working in Victoria’s aesthetic - playing with a limited palette is a great color exercise. Fun fact! I created the background by caking on layers of gesso and acrylic, then carving through it with a steak knife to create the ‘wainscoting’ effect; as if carved by the knives present in the papercraft.

❤️❤️❤️Vengeful Spoilers below! ❤️❤️❤️

This papercraft was such a no-brainer. The concept just flowed out so easily, even though the contexts of the character’s symbolism are few sentences in passing. Victor blantantly being skewered by the knives are very blunt representantions of the episodes of severe pain he experiences throughout Vengeful. Eli’s was the most obscure, referencing his father carving 'new feathers into the torn wings of Eli’s back.’ Both boys struggling to make their way toward Marcella, who’s balancing on a bed a knives like a boss and then wisping them away without fuss.

Bonus doodle I made while relistening to the series for this piece - from the scene in Vicious that always sends chills and thrills down my spine.
