Summary: In the Modern Continent, the witcher brothers have had their hands full keeping mostly-retired Vesemir from becoming radicalized by unreliable news media. Geralt and Eskel have found ways to draw their boundaries, but Lambert has taken it upon himself to debunk the untruths his old man comes across while providing him with more reliable sources of news.
Aiden, Lambert’s human partner, struggles to find a way to help Lambert handle the incendiary phone conversations between himself and Vesemir.
Lambert sighed—well, more like growled under his breath—next to Aiden on the couch and slammed down his phone.
They’d paused Netflix before it auto-played the next episode so they could take a bathroom break and grab dessert, but now it seemed things might stay paused for a while.
“Everything okay?” Aiden asked, taking a furtive glance at an incoming text notification on Lambert’s screen. Not enough information to go on, but he could take a guess. Family Stuff .
Lambert irritably jiggled his foot on the edge of the coffee table, and Aiden could practically see the thunderclouds gathering over his head. “I’m gonna have to call Vesemir.”
Things had been relatively quiet since they’d moved into the new place: a little unpacking here, some fresh paint there, new appliances to get used to—Lambert had gone on a deep dive of YouTube videos learning all the ins and outs of their dishwasher, finding out all the little tricks to make it run the most efficiently.
More than anything it was theirspace, a chance to grow together into something more solid than Lambert’s crumbling room at Kaer Morhen. Don’t get him wrong, it was a gorgeous old building, full of old world charm and a melancholy grandeur that Aiden admired and appreciated… but lumpy pillows, moth-eaten curtains, barely enough natural light, and having to light a fire every morning just to bear getting out of bed grew old after the first five winters (after the first two, really, but Aiden knew how much the Keep meant to Lambert, so he’d taken some time before suggesting the move. It was all that Lambert had ever known—well, all he’d ever really been able to call home.It had seemed selfish to pull him away from it for the sake of larger, better-insulated windows and electric baseboard heating.
That was until Aiden came to understand Lambert’s relationship with his father figure, Vesemir. It wasn’t bad, Aiden wouldn’t even go so far as to say it was frictious most of the time. Vesemir was old (fuck knows howold), he put a lot of emphasis on familial responsibility and togetherness, and though the Continent was far more accepting of nonhumans than it was back in his day, it by no means meant that the hatred wasn’t still lurking—forced into the shadows by peacekeepers and equality legislation that prevented institutions like the Eternal Fire and their followers from holding public demonstrations. They were no longer permitted to go door-to-door or proselytize in the town square… but that didn’t mean that the loyalists just disappeared when the laws were passed. And it didn’t mean that those groups that fought againstthem didn’t have their own polarizing rhetoric that, in Lambert’s opinion, made them no better than the Eternal Fire.
My beautiful Grayson stitch is finally done! I worked so hard on his pattern to make him as pretty as he deserved and I am so happy with how he came out.

The current English version of the Witcher TTRPG is created by R. Talsorian games. They have a bunch of great, in depth worldbuilding stuff for you to use. It’s wonderful, and I’ve used quite a bit of it for my fics- including characters and lore that are exclusive to these ttrpgs!
All you really need to play is the first one, of course. I do a lot of writing using the second, though. The Witcher’s Journal is absolutely fantastic, with a lot of backstory of the Founders of the Witcher Schools. Erland of Larvik is whollly owned/created by R. Talsorian.

However, sometimes complicated RPGs are hard to get into! Or you aren’t sure how to remove/ignore/homebrew what it is you want, because you’re just so used to D&D 5e.
Please remember- Dungeons and Dragons is a brand name. Just like Kleenex. We may use it interchangeably with any role playing game, but it issomething owned and defended by Wizards of the Coast as their Intellectual property. They can and have sued people in defense of it!
But R. Talsorian has also recently released the Manticore School Expansion- filling in a portion of the world we didn’t have before. I really love it, and have been working on a Witcher OC that’s a Manticore. Their entire philosophy/creation is so different and intriguing!

As the evening wears on, things come to a head as Essi and Geralt continue to grapple with their doubts, questions, and desires to be closer. With a little help from an old friend, Geralt has a chance to talk things out before the end of the night. But will Geralt get a chance to talk with Essi before it’s too late?

I really loved how the linework turned out on this, and I was hesitant to colour it, as nothing seemed to look right. I was going to leave it greyscale but then I work up one morning and my brain was like do watercolour.
I haven’t done traditional in years (it is not like riding a bicycle, just FYI) but I gave it a shot. I’m not totally happy with it, and neither my scanner nor camera seem to want to capture the colours correctly but here you go! (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

And Geralt takes Ciri to the zoo one day and catches a glimpse of him
So he keeps coming back, hell he buys a year membership, comes on his days off when Ciri is in school
Tries to be all inconspicuous with his sunglasses and messy man bun, just lurking
Lambert (who looks after the lions) sees him and constantly points him out to Eskel
Eskel thinks Lambert is insane but he keeps sneaking peeks at the hot dad that keeps coming to look at the red pandas (he’s not here to look at the pandas, Lamb constantly tells him, he’s here to oogle the hot zookeeper) Eskel just throws whatever’s at hand at Lamb and tells him to shut up.

And then I died at SIR SIR THIS IS ZOO NOT A STRIP CLUB-.Poor Coen, he just wanted a chill job with zoo security and now he has to deal with this (T_T)
I wanted to share something with you because there’s a sentiment I see quite often in my friends (and also in myself sometimes).
“I should write. I haven’t written in quite some time now and I am a writer. So I should write.”
What isn’t said out loud, but still part of the subtext is usually something along the lines of “Am I allowed to call myself a writer if I don’t write every day/week/month or write a certain amount of words/chapters/works”.
“Am I enough (of a writer) if I don’t write whenever I physically can?”
So maybe this metaphor has been done before, I don’t know, but as I was wandering around in our garden, I had a thought:
An apple tree, right? Or whatever kind of fruit-bearing tree/bush you like best.
