Phryne’s fourth outfit of “Framed for Murder” (Season 2, Episode 9) is a beautiful blue velvet coat with a matching cloche, over a black camisole and her classic silk faille pants with bejeweled blue heels.

An elegant follow-up to her gorgeous gold gown, Miss Fisher dons a coat made of an azure blue velvet with marabou down trim on wide lapels. The sleeves also feature the marabou down trim above the elbow before the velvet continues to her forearms and splits at the cuff. The coat is held closed by an ornate enamel buckle costume designer Marion Boyce found in an antique store.

Her hat is a matching blue felt cloche with an antique feather band. According to the official Pinterest:“While we were filming in Queenscliff, Victoria, a stranger donated a selection of her grandmother’s old 1960s hats to our designer. Luckily one of the felt hats matched Phryne’s blue velvet jacket perfectly.”

The hat itself was extended, made deeper, and reshaped to become a cloche. The designers took authentic 1920’s feathers from another hat and added a fascinator made of velvet loops and a metal button.

Underneath, Phryne wears a black silk camisole with scalloped edging and dark wide-legged pants. She accessorizes with navy gloves, teardrop onyx earrings, and glittering navy t-strap heels (seen at the Costume Exhibition here on Dayna’s blog).

The third costume in “Framed for Murder” (Season 2, Episode 9) is an incredible gold sequin gown Phryne wears to her movie-star party, complete with gold heels, silver earrings, and a crimson fur shawl.

The dress itself is made of a modern silk chiffon with double sequins with a tarnished gold patina to create an older, antique look. Pieces of a diamante necklace were used to add weight and stability to the back of the dress, and a tiered section of jewels were added to the front for ornamentation.

According to the Costume Exhibition Catalogue:

“This was made for Phryne to be the ‘Golden Girl’ at her Hollywood dinner party. Deep godets (triangular fabric inserts) were added to the side of the skirt so when she first appears there is a fantastic sweep as she turns around the banister.”

Phryne complements her gorgeous gown with her gold leaf headpiece, created from a series of jeweled antique brooches and black feathers, previously seen in 1x03and1x09. When she leaves the party to investigate the movie set, she brings a dark maroon faux fur shawl with aubergine highlights and a crimson silk satin lining.

She finishes her look with gold t-strap heels, a wide flower ring, and her classic metal dangling earrings.

Phryne’s second outfit of “Framed for Murder” (Season 2, Episode 9) consists of a lovely sheer chiffon floral blouse, white camisole, and plum skirt. It is the ‘at-home’ version of the outfit worn earlier to the movie set.

In this scene with Dot, we can see the blouse has long sleeves, with gathered barrel style cuffs featuring two self-covered buttons, while the hem of the blouse is also gathered and fitted into more of a stiff waistband. Her v-neckline draws the eye down to the tiered diamond shaped accents down her front, and the slight scoop neckline of the camisole underneath helps show off the sheer fabric’s pattern.

The linen plum skirt can be seen in the previous scene and in 2x05, which complements the accents in her floral chiffon blouse as well as her navy side strap heels. She also accessorizes with white stockings and her classic onyx teardrop earrings.

Miss Fisher’s first outfit of “Framed for Murder” (Season 2, Episode 9) is a suitably vibrant daywear look made up of a statement lime green and lilac coat, complete with a floral blouse and dark skirt and matching green cloche.

Phryne’s stunning floor length travelling coat has a pink velvet exterior and a chartreuse satin lining. The satin appears at her exaggerated gauntlet style cuffs, with fabric covered buttons matching the velvet exterior. It also has a tall folded, standing collar and low notches below her chest.

Her trademark fabulous hat was created specifically to match her coat. The chartreuse felt hood was sourced in the US, then decorated with a pink velvet hat band as well as black and white guinea hen feathers, dyed pink emu feathers, and shaped white feathers. A gold filigree piece is also tucked into the fascinator.

Underneath she wears a chiffon floral blouse with purple flowers and green leaves that complement the coat. The blouse itself has a v-neck and two tiered diamond shaped accents along the front, as well as a white camisole underneath. She pairs this with a mid-calf length dark plum skirt seen previously in “Murder à la Mode” (2x05)

Her accessories consist of her classic onyx teardrop earrings, white nylons, and navy heels with a single strap crossing over her foot.
