Like everyone else out there in the fiber arts world I have a ton of scrap yarn left over from past projects. So of course I decided to whip up a quick pattern for a crochet square to use up all that extra yarn and help us make some more pretty projects!

Don’t you think these would make a lovely blanket or pillow covering?

Notes:

  • You will always slip stitch into the first double crochet, not the slip stitch or chain 3 from the previous round.

  • Finished size is approximately 5" x 5"

  • You MAY sell items made from this pattern. If you choose to sell items made from any of my patterns please link back to me at www.RESCUEDPAW.com for credit. Do not use my photos to sell any items. Thank you for respecting my work.

DIY Knit Snake Scarf Free Pattern

Author’s Statement:

“This is my attempt at a realistic Pseudonaja affinis, an elapid snake common in Western Australia. This was a requested design by a herpetologist studying these snakes for her PhD. The color Sequoia looks the most realistic for this snake which is sometimes called a Spotted Brown Snake

The 12 inch tail is knit like cord starting with very small needles. Most of the snake is stockinette worked back and forth. The head is knit in the round and requires a little hand sewing with a scrap of some non-fraying fabric similar in color to your yarn. You need some polyfill and eyes. I also added a patch of leather inside the head for shaping.”
