I’m not done with season four of fresh off the boat but i just want to list all the things I love about Nicole’s coming out and experience
- She tells Eddie first because he’s chill and won’t treat her any different, and he is the chillest about it I love their friendship so much
- “What happens in the Saturn stays in the Saturn”
- “Maybe we should make some ground rules for what’s Saturn worthy news”
- (My first car was also a Saturn so I just thought that was really cute)
- How supportive Honey immediately is when Nicole comes out
- How supportive all the lesbians in the bar are
- “Crystal, get that bottle of champagne. Barb, get that cot ready in the back. We gotta be prepared for this to go either way.”

- Seriously just watch the scene if you haven’t seen it it’s GOLD
- Honey emphasizing to Jessica that you cannot out someone else
- Jessica’s ignorance not treated as hostility. She is ignorant but still totally supportive and willing to learn. She’s a little confused but she got the spirit
- Honey offering to be there when Nicole comes out to her dad for moral support
- Honey accidentally blasting come to my window before she comes out
- Marvin being ashamed of his homophobic joke. Nobody had to call him out on it, he called himself out!! He knew it was wrong and was embarrassed and he apologized for saying it without thinking
- They don’t make a big deal of her coming out to anyone else besides Eddie and her family. We don’t know when Emery and Alison found out but they immediately help Eddie play wingman for Nicole with her first crush
- ALSO the fact that she figured out that she is gay before she even had a crush on a girl. I wish we knew more about this. Was it the spice girls? A teacher? Softball? Pure introspection? Whatever it was I love it
- When her crush rejects her for being honest about her interests Nicole says, “I spent too much time pretending to be someone I’m not and I’m not gonna start that again now.” YOU GO GIRL BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE
Anyway that’s as far as I’ve gotten I’m almost done with the show the whole thing is good not just the coming out story that’s just a bonus. Watch Fresh off the Boat it’s so good. It has a gay character, Chinese American rep, AND Constance Wu. What more could you desire?
